Video conferencing service provider Interoute has presented its new Video as a Service platform (Vase), that allows any company to use the high definition video conferencing service without investing in equipment or specialized personnel.

The new Video as a Service service (Vase) of Interoute allows companies to use high-definition video conferencing without having to invest in equipment, have specialized technical personnel or worry about communication working. Interoute offers a tailored outsourcing service, safe and quality guaranteed, that allows the client to forget about technology and focus on their business. Besides, Includes value-added network solutions that improve user experience and enable advanced meeting features.

With this solution, traditional barriers to the use of high-quality communications disappear in most companies: the price of equipment and service management. Interoute VaaS is integrated into Interoute's strategy around Unified ICT (Unified ITC), until now formed by unified connectivity services (Unified Connectivity), unified communications (Unified Communications) and unified hosting and security solutions (Unified Computing). Interoute hosts services on a secure, integrated network platform (to optimize your cost, performance and efficiency) and offers them to companies on a pay-per-use basis under the cloud model, as another service.

Diego Matas, general director of Interoute Iberia, has pointed out that “companies should not see video as a luxury, but as a communication solution more, such as the conference, messaging or social networking. The economic and technological barriers that turned high-definition videoconferencing and telepresence into monolithic solutions from a single manufacturer within the reach of a privileged few have disappeared.. Now its main advantages are the democratization of the service, within the reach of any company thanks to outsourcing, ease of use and simple integration, on both desktop and mobile devices. “This new service represents a comprehensive and integrated offering in the cloud with end-to-end control by Interoute.”.

Besides, The improvement of telecommunications today allows virtual meetings to be held in any environment, including from videoconference and telepresence rooms to workstations, tablets and smartphones. Telecommunications networks are stronger than ever, driven by the development of social networks and the explosion of digital content.

The video plays first

Video has come to play in the first league of business services – that of high definition – thanks to improvements in cameras, video algorithms and network performance. It is estimated that for 2014 the video will mean more than 90% of global Internet traffic, which is equivalent to multiplying by four the IP traffic between 2009 y 2014. The explosion of video and the emergence of mobile devices capable of transmitting it online (smartphones, PADs, netbooks, telepresence systems,…) partly explain this trend.

Diego Matas has commented on it: “We are facing a profound transformation of IP networks, necessary to be able to handle the enormous volumes of existing traffic, accommodate the proliferation of network-connected devices and manage interoperability and latency issues. Having focused for more than two decades on process automation, Today investment in ICT has to contribute something more to the business. Companies advocate formulas that allow talent to be shared on a large scale and to collaborate effectively and, in that framework, “Videoconferencing and telepresence have become very attractive possibilities”.

Unified ICT solutions for companies

Interoute VaaS's new video platform completes its corporate strategy, focused on outsourcing the technological infrastructure of companies and managing it under the cloud model. High-definition videoconferencing and telepresence are integrated into the Unified Communications portfolio (Unified ICT) of the Company.

Advantages of the service:
• It does not require initial investment and the launch cost is minimal.
• Simple management: no administrator or advanced technical knowledge required.
• Integrates with Interoute's Unified Connectivity solutions (complete end to end solution), including connectivity.
• You do not need to consider the life cycle of the products or the investment amortization periods.
• Redundant and scalable solution (the client can extend the service when needed), which allows you to increase productivity and accelerate return on investment (ROI).
• Ensures secure and confidential communications, since the calls are encrypted.
• Designed for professional environments: Interoute guarantees the image and quality of service during communication.

Compared to other services (Skype, Webex, etc.):
• It is a managed service for business clients, with service guarantees (SLA), not comparable with low quality “best effort” solutions.
• Interoute will ensure with the parties that communication can be established on the necessary day and time and can even manage the meeting.
• Allows the integration of technologies, heterogeneous protocols and terminals, It is not a service linked to a closed network or a protocol.

In relation to solutions managed by the client themselves:
• No specialized video personnel needed.
• 24x7x365 support.
• Value-added services and communication with the outside world.
In relation to other market initiatives
• OVCC type agreements (Open Visual Communications Consortium) are aimed at joining networks for video conferencing and the providers remain different. Interoute provides a service with a single point of contact and can also manage communication with third parties.
• Many consortia are driven by hardware manufacturers. Interoute does not force the client to use any specific one.

Jose Manuel Armada, Director of Customer Engineering at Interoute Iberia, has added that rooms can be added in SD or HD and that “It is a service that works because there is someone who makes sure it works”.
