Masaru Tamagawa, new president of Sony Europe

Masaru Tamagawa has been appointed new president of Sony Europe, with effect from 1 July 2012, replacing Fujio Nishida, who will take on the position of executive president of the European subsidiary of the Japanese company.

Sony Europe has announced the appointment of Masaru Tamagawa as the company's new president, effective from 1 July 2012. The current president, Fujio Nishida, will become CEO of Sony Europe, with the aim of overseeing the transformation program currently being implemented across all of Sony's consumer electronics activities in Europe, as well as to ensure a smooth transition process.

Tamagawa has been CEO of Sony India since 2007, responsibility in which he has been able to oversee the growth of the company, increasing its profits and ensuring the maintenance of the largest share of the electronics market in India. He also previously directed Sony Gulf, based in Dubai. He is also a strong and decisive defender of 'One Sony' and the convergence process, leveraging the unique strengths of the company's electronics and entertainment divisions.

The new president and CEO of Sony Corporation, Kazuo Hirai, has stated: “Europe is one of Sony's most important markets.
