KCP&L updates its video walls with Barco technology
The KCP Company&L has chosen Barco technology to update the LED video walls of its Broadcast Control Center and Emergency Operations Center, increasing image quality and significantly reducing maintenance and operation costs.
Barco has been selected again as a control room display supplier for KCP&L, this time to equip Barco's video wall with a new LED engine. Using the Barco LED Upgrade Kit, audiovisual integrator AVI Systems has updated previous video walls while significantly increasing image quality.
The application has been based on Barco technology since 2006, when it replaced its original equipment front-projection Transmission Control Center with an array of 24 SXGA+ DLP OV-80 cubes″ Barco creating a canvas of 16.800 x 2.100 pixels. KCP&L decided to stay with Barco for the next generation of its system due to its reliability, Superior image resolution and maintenance-free operation. The company also updated the Emergency Operations Center video wall, which serves as a command center to restore power during outages, and which is made up of 15 modules of 50″ by boat.
Boost quality and efficiency with LED
Tom Madsen, AVI Systems project developer, has stated: “When it comes to accurate color reproduction, uniformly, regarding images and data, no one does it better than Barco. Even lines just one pixel high only appear from the background and are perfectly aligned, due to the excellent black levels and consistent wall brightness.”
