NEC Updates Its Line of OPS-Based Slot-In PC Modules
NEC Display Solutions Europe has three new models of PCs with Slot-In slot based on the Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) that allow you to play content from compatible displays and projectors without the need for a PC, cabling, external support or power supply.
NEC Display Solutions Europe has introduced a trio of additions to its range of Slot-In PCs, that allow content to be displayed on compatible displays and projectors without the need for a PC, cabling, external support or power supply. The three new models are based on the Open Pluggable Specification (OPS), a specification designed in a strategic alliance between NEC and Intel Corporation to be compatible with NEC displays with an STv2 or DualSlot, as well as NEC's PX and PH series of installation projectors.
The module has a 3rd generation Intel Core i7 processor, offering optimal performance for the most demanding tasks. This makes it ideal for high performance applications such as Hiperwall installations., multi-touch and 3D in places such as high-end retail signage environments, as well as control rooms in public service and transportation entities.
More demanding users can opt for the Intel Core i5 processor version, also based on the technology of 22 nm from Intel. This powerful CPU, combined with 4 GB of RAM and Intel HD graphics, ensures that this new module offers a 26 percent more processing power and a 45 percent more graphics performance than its predecessor. This makes it perfect for the rigorous demands of public displays that play high-definition, interactive content..
For users with less demanding requirements and smaller budgets, A second module incorporates a 2-speed Intel Atom OPS processor.×1.6GHz and integrated graphics. This makes it the perfect solution for displaying static content, such as flight information in airports and retail signage in illuminated environments.
USB 2.0 o 3.0
Compared to its predecessors, All modules also feature enhanced graphics power for crystal-clear HD playback., and a wide range of connectivity options, including two USB ports (USB 2.0 for Intel Atom and USB based processor version 3.0 for Intel Core i5 and i7 processor modules) and an SD card slot, as well as wired and wireless network connectivity. Besides, These models are also highly configurable in terms of memory, storage and pre-loaded operating system, adding even greater flexibility to match every usage scenario.
In addition to providing superior graphics power and versatility, offer excellent total cost of ownership thanks to their low consumption. In particular, The Intel Atom dual-core processor model consumes a maximum of only 11 watts, and 40 percent less than its predecessor.
Advantages of the Open Pluggable Specification
Thomas Walter, Product Manager Public Display Solutions at NEC Display Solutions Europe, has pointed out: “NEC offers a variety of Slot-In PC systems for use with our displays and projectors that provide an easy upgrade path and improve cost of ownership as the OPS device or display can be upgraded individually during the normal life cycle.. With data from the study of the consulting company FutureSource, who predicted that sales of embedded players will increase in the next four years, This is the perfect time to ensure that we have an updated and attractive proposal for users, regardless of your needs. ”
While, Jose Avalos, Director of Retail and Digital Signage at Intel Corporation, has commented: “The Open Pluggable Specification provides the industry with a standardized media player input to increase flexibility for users of all digital signage applications., as well as to simplify the update process. Using 3rd generation Intel Core processors for the computing element of the OPS enables stunning high-definition images and reduces total cost of ownership”.
