Barco has incorporated Sony LCoS technology into its SIM series simulation projectors 7 of 2.800 lumens, increasing the contrast ratio of 10.000:1 a 40.000:1, which significantly increases the realism of the immersion simulator, especially for night vision training of new new pilots.

Barco is the main beneficiary of the new LCoS technology of Sony, which increases the contrast ratio of its new series of SIM projectors 7 of 2.800 lumens of 10.000:1 a 40.000:1. This ultra-high contrast significantly increases the realism of the immersion simulator, especially for night vision training of new pilots.

Shrinking budgets and a demand for greater training efficiency are fueling the growth of virtual training for pilots. Responding to the need for cost-effective display solutions, Barco has developed the SIM 7Q-HC, an upgrade to your flagship simulation projector, and SIM 7Q, which is a recognized projector in the industry for use in immersive training.

Shunichi Hashimoto, General Manager of Sony's Display Devices Business Division, has commented: “We are very excited to see our new SXRD LCoS high contrast panel implemented on Barco's SIM 7Q HC series. Together with Boat, We have optimized this SXRD LCoS panel specifically for use with Barco's next-generation simulation projectors.”

More effective training

The new SIM 7Q-HC with an improved contrast ratio will create a more realistic flight environment for all scenarios, notably improving the effectiveness of nighttime simulation training. Incorporating Sony's latest LCoS panels and Barco's ECR aperture and CCD dimmer technology allows the SIM 7Q-HC to 2.800 lumens achieve a total dynamic range of more than 20 million:1. The result is a more accurate simulation of low-light environments, which is essential for training pilots in modern flight strategies.

Barco simulation images are widely known for their simplicity, stability and reliability, in addition to the ease of installation and integration. The new projector is an ideal complement to domed and collimated screens. Frank Timmermans, General Director of Boat Training and Simulation, has indicated: “We are continually striving to create the most authentic immersive experience to keep pilots in training safe until they are fully prepared for real flight.. Sony has once again improved its LCoS technology and surpassed the already high benchmark for simulation contrast ratio. This allows us to optimize our projectors for the most realistic flight experience.”.
