Project Sherlock: high-precision locator and sensors for risky professions
The Scherloc system developed by Indra incorporates the latest advances in Indoor positioning systems (IPS) and global positioning (GPS, Glonass) to guarantee an uninterrupted signal of maximum precision in locating people and monitoring vital signs.
Indra, Spanish multinational consulting and technology company, participate as an integrator, designer of the HW architecture and communications protocols in the R&D project called Sherloc (hybrid remote stress and localization system), together with the universities of Valladolid and Polytechnic of Madrid, and companies Luce IT y Aitex. Its objective is the development of a high-precision people location system that monitors the vital signs of the individual in real time., designed to respond to the needs of security forces and bodies, hospital staff, airports, oil industry, etc. with a level of stress due to the risk situations to which they are exposed.
The system incorporates the locator and sensors that analyze the person's biometric parameters in a bracelet or anklet. (heart rate and skin conductivity, as well as a button with which the professional can generate an alarm if he or she is in danger., in addition to being configured to generate warnings in case of falls or accidents or symptoms of fatigue. The signal is received from the control center and presented on a cartographic application, in order to react quickly to any unforeseen situation, since the exact position in which the person is is known.
The Sherloc system incorporates the latest advances in Indoor positioning systems (IPS) and global positioning (GPS, Glonass), which guarantees an uninterrupted signal of maximum precision. Compared to other systems that offer limited accuracy and require expensive equipment and installation, Sherloc will be marketed at a competitive cost and will not need to be calibrated to locate people inside buildings.
The development of this system has been carried out from the Safety Center of Excellence that Indra has in León., specialized in the development of location systems and generation of digital signals. From their facilities they have left, inter alia, frequency jammers to protect critical infrastructure or the man overboard radio beacon system.
