Augmented reality at the Museum of the Autonomy of Andalusia

The Spanish company Arpa Solutions has carried out an augmented reality project in the Museum of the Autonomy of Andalusia, the first nationally held in a museum.

He Museum of the Autonomy of Andalusia, located in the Sevillian town of Coria del Río, has an augmented reality museum resource (AR) of Arpa Solutions in its permanent exhibition room, the first carried out so far with this technology in an institution of this type at the national level, that allows its visitors to take a virtual tour of self-government institutions.

The project, carried out by Arpa Solutions, Spanish company based in the Malaga technology park, is based on its Daram SDK software platform, that creates amazing interactive experiences for numerous applications. In this case, it focuses on the pedagogical and cultural function to promote interaction between visitors., to show the different Andalusian institutions, with three-dimensional virtual models of the buildings where they are located, such as the Andalusian Parliament and the Government Council (in Seville) and the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia (in Granada).

Through circular trays with printed markers, These models are placed in front of a web camera while the virtual models appear on the screen on the markers carried by museum visitors.. At the base of each building, legends are displayed with information about the Andalusian institution it represents and its government functions., in addition to the history of the building.

The Daram SDK platform developed by Arpa Solutions, which was recently presented at the Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, processes the virtual object and what the camera captures in real time.
