San Sebastián culminates its bicentennial with an audiovisual and interactive memorial created by Morgancrea

Described as the last 'milestone' of the commemoration of the bicentennial of San Sebastián (1813-2013), The audiovisual and interactive project or 'journey' through the evolution of this city carried out by the Morgancrea studio has had the participation of two hundred young people, who have narrated the evolution of this city with the vision of the generation of the city's future.

The evolution of the burning and reconstruction of San Sebastián and the tribute to the efforts of all those people who managed to transform this city into ruins into which it has been designated European Capital of Culture 2016 It is collected in an 'audiovisual journey' narrated by two hundred young people and considered the last milestone in the commemoration of its bicentennial..

The project has been carried out by Morgancrea, a multidisciplinary studio based in San Sebastián, which in recent years has carried out numerous audiovisual and exhibition works related to the history of this city, which has generated that it has a digital archive of great value and the work with experts in the history of the same.

Directed by Carlos Rodríguez and produced by Asun Lasarte, The audiovisual and interactive memorial '200' had the participation of an equal number of young people in its filming (of 10 a 25 years); a new generation of San Sebastian residents who have narrated the evolution of the city in those years in first person.

Innovation and history

After calling a casting in which eight hundred students from San Sebastian educational centers participated, The young people selected for the project recorded for a few weeks on the sets of the Audiovisual Innovation Pole, the result of which are thirteen stories (in Basque, Spanish and English and French subtitles) about social life, urbanism, conflicts and reconstruction, culture, gastronomy, sport, etc. in which the past is combined, present and future of the city, projected on a large panoramic canvas of fourteen meters.

The visitor can choose the video or the visual parts of the '200' project (which is made up of some 2.000 images) that best suit your tastes, interest, curiosity, etc. to become an educational journey, emotional, curious and entertained by the two hundred years of history of the city 'a la carte', customizing the order and number of videos you want.

The project is also completed with an installation that represents the '200' young people who have contributed their voice to the project carried out on the façade of the museum and which also corresponds to the Morgancrea studio, in collaboration with the San Sebastián City Council, the San Telmo Museum and Donostia Kultura.

This audiovisual and interactive installation, which in the first months was in the Laboratory Room of the San Telmo Museum, It is currently and permanently located in the House of History of Mount Urgull, an emblematic building of San Sebastián, as part of its exhibition content and with the idea that it continues to evolve and expand in 2016, year that the city will be European Capital of Culture.

Commemorative videomapping

Another of the actions carried out to commemorate the bicentennial of San Sebastián was the videomapping created by Acciona Productions and Design in collaboration with the San Sebastián City Council, which was shown on its façade in summer so that thousands of San Sebastian residents and tourists could learn about the evolution of the city in the last two hundred years and its historical and cultural legacy in an innovative way..

For this spectacular staging, eight high-speed projectors were used. 22.000 lumens each, with image quality of 4.000 pixels and 60.000 sound watts.
