Since it was renovated in 2003, The Dutch theater Toneelschuur has incorporated Yamaha technology for its audio systems. The latest addition has been two CL1 digital mixing consoles.

Located in the historic center of Haarlem (Netherlands), the Toneelschuur theater offers an innovative environment for the development of the performing arts, where there is a commitment to experimental theater and avant-garde cinema. This building, composed of two rooms and two cinemas, was renovated by the artist Joost Swarte and inaugurated in 2003.

Since its restoration, The Toneelschuur theater has opted for audio technology for its sound infrastructure. Yamaha. It started by installing one of the first DMC1000 mixers in the Netherlands and has included many more Yamaha products, including 02R consoles, 02R96 and DM2000, as well as a wide range of digital audio processing equipment.

Recently its digital mixing system has been expanded by two Yamaha CL1 consoles, that help ensure that the sounds are as innovative as the images. These CL1 systems were supplied and installed by the company Audiopro based in Amsterdam. The first together with a Rio1608-D i/o unit for use as a mobile system . the second CL1 console has been installed in the smaller of the two theaters , along with another Rio1608-D i/o unit and a Yamaha DME64N digital mixing system.

“We are long time Yamaha users, We have MY cards for different protocols -ADAT, AES/EBU, analog, Dugan-MY16 automatic microphone- and all can be used with the CL1”, explica Pim van den Heuvel, sound designer and engineer of the Toneelschuur.

A Yamaha DM2000V2 digital console is located in the stage space, which is equipped with two MY16-AUD cards., that ensure perfect integration with the Dante network., plus two Rio1608-Ds and another DME64N . Digital mixing consoles are used to distribute and feed surround sound speaker systems 5.1 in both spaces.

“The Dante network allows us to be very flexible. Be able to place R Series i/o units in the most convenient location and locate audio virtually anywhere in the building, comments Pim .
