Sony's Hawk-Eye technology together with its VPL-FH500L projection system is used by the sportswear brand Puma to create a virtual goal that serves as a platform to promote its evoPOWER boots.

At the beginning of the year, Puma began the promotional campaign for its EvoPower football boots and did so with an event held on 17 January in Barcelona in which forwards Mario Balotelli participated, Cesc Fabregas and Marco Reus. The footballers demonstrated their skills and the performance of these boots by throwing the ball against a virtual goal developed by Sony especially for this occasion..

Sony VPL-FH500LTo create this soccer simulator, Sony used its Hawk-Eye technology, the VPL-FH500L projector and the VPLL-Z4015 short throw lens.

The players made their shots against a screen, that simulated a life-size soccer goal, of 7,3 x 2,4 meters and the simulator recorded the power and precision of each shot made by the three soccer stars. With Hawk-Eye tracking technology it was possible to measure the speed of the ball and the point of impact of each penalty shot. In this way you get an immediate view of the shooting statistics of each player.

The sharpness and brilliance of the images were projected with a WUXGA resolution thanks to the VPL-FH500L equipment that provides a color light output of 7.000 perfect lumens for parties. Besides, This system offers high reliability and reduces maintenance needs, reducing overall projector life costs in a wide range of demanding applications, from auditoriums to public rooms and shops.
