The automatic content recognition system (ACR) SyncNow developed by Civolution, It has been used for the first time at a major live event, specifically in one of the 'Toppers in concert 2014' concerts, held at the end of May at the Amsterdam Arena, synchronizing in real time and through the 'Toppers Live' app the mobile devices of more than 65.000 spectators attending.

Civolution worked with AV innovation expert Robbert Schep, owner of RS New Media Concepts, and the organizers of these concerts to develop 'Toppers Live', a free application for smartphones (iOS y Android) that attendees could download to become part of the stage's light show in real time.

The smartphones of the spectators who ran this app saw how the screens of their mobile devices synchronized with the performances taking place at that moment on stage. One of the examples of this mobile interaction with the show, is that the connected smartphones had a certain color (rojo, white or blue), depending on the individual location in the stadium, to create a colorful and mobile representation of the Dutch national flag during concerts.

Involve more than 65.000 people through their mobile devices at a live concert is an example of the type of technologically advanced and innovative work we do at Civolution”.

In this line, Robbert Schep, owner of RS New Media Concepts, assures that "we have had a unique vision so that this year's 'Toppers in concert' are the most extraordinary and innovative in their ten-year history.". Civolution's SyncNow technology allowed us to achieve not only a new precedent for these concerts, but for the live entertainment industry”.

SyncNow ACR offers the possibility of carrying out interactions such as the one carried out in this case with mobile devices, as well as games and original content about the products, allowing users to participate directly by interacting with the content broadcast on the main screen, with real-time identification of content and frame-accurate synchronization between streaming content, on demand or recorded and interactive applications on different devices (pills, smartphones, laptops…) to present engaging user experiences in sync.

This technology is based on imperceptible audio watermarks that can be embedded in the live broadcast, as in the case of the 'Toppers in concert', as well as in the content file before broadcast.
