Paco de Lucía virtually returns to Córdoba thanks to 3D videomapping to pay tribute to him
The ruins of the Roman Temple of Córdoba have been used to virtually recreate and honor the guitarist Paco de Lucía with a 3D mapping made by the company Congress System with Christie systems and 4K resolution, as part of the parallel activities of the I Flamenco Guitar Congress, recently held in this Andalusian city.
3D projection technology has served to recreate and pay tribute to the great Andalusian guitarist Paco de Lucía, who died in February of this year, during the I Flamenco Guitar Congress, celebrated from 12 al 16 November in Córdoba, in which the main figures of the guitar and more than two hundred professionals have gathered.
This audiovisual show in honor of the Algerian maestro, made by the audiovisual specialist Congress System in collaboration with the Culture Delegation of the Córdoba City Council, took place on Saturday night 15 November with the ruins of the Roman Temple of this city as a setting, on the eve of International Flamenco Day, declared by UNESCO Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
With the image of Paco de Lucía and his guitar performing 'Entre dos aguas', under a 3D recreation of the original construction of the Roman Temple of Córdoba, The video mapping paid tribute to the teacher while showing monuments and emblematic spaces of this city such as the Mosque-Cathedral, the Alcázar of the Christian Kings, the Synagogue or the Courtyards.
With a duration of fifteen minutes, with passes every half hour, hundreds of Cordobans, tourists and fans of cante jondo, to the flamenco guitar and, mainly, to the work and figure of Paco de Lucía, They were able to enjoy this show that lasted until midnight.
Technical and creative deployment in 4K
El videomapping 3D, carried out by Congress System and the first of this magnitude to be carried out in Córdoba, has had an important creative and technical deployment for which three projectors of the brand have been used Christie, to offer a total of 60.000 lumens, that synchronized with the music (10.000 sound watts) and latest generation computers to carry out more than 28.000 images at 4K resolutions.
This show has featured two: a first reconstruction of the historical monument, in which the latest 3D animation techniques have been used to recreate the Roman Temple of Córdoba, and a second in tribute to Paco de Lucia, with a virtual recreation of the guitarist using character reconstruction techniques, only used in major film productions, performing the musical theme 'Between two waters', with simulations synchronized with music, using the 3D particle animation technique while images of the most emblematic spaces of the city were projected.
As Juan Miguel Moreno pointed out during his presentation, responsible for the Culture Area of the Córdoba City Council, “This screening began to be prepared when Paco de Lucía was still alive and wanted to be a tribute to his importance in the world of guitar, of which he was a revolutionary, and its connection with Córdoba, where he performed up to seven times and to which he was united by a strong affection”.
Congress System, based in Córdoba, has already developed several 3D mapping throughout this year, like the one made in the Almodóvar Castle, called 'Princess Zaida', in addition to being a finalist in the I Girona International Mapping Festival, held last August, with the work titled 'Moments of Dalí' being the only representation of Andalusia. At the moment, The company has four projects in development both in this city and nationally..
