Coruña Smart City completes its first phase of implementation of the project led by Indra

The Data Processing Center (CPD) of the La Coruña City Council, in which the urban platform of Coruña Smart City is already operational, has begun to receive data from three of the fourteen pilots contemplated by the project: multichannel events, guided tour system and electronic administration.

Among the first services that citizens now have at their disposal are the mobile apps for the city's cultural and leisure agenda and the guided tour with augmented reality.. Thanks to it, the people of Coruña will be able, For example, receive information about shows directly on your mobile phone based on your preferences and buy tickets; design personalized itineraries and share them, as well as receive messages from the application itself when they are near a geolocated site.

Also available is site electronics of the A Coruña town hall, which is part of the electronic administration pilot, and that starts with the first twelve procedures. All these services will be accessible through the Coruña Smart City portal, where useful information is also offered to the citizen, dynamic and real-time information on the nearest gas stations and fuel prices, Bicicoruña stations or the state of traffic and city works, inter alia.

This initial catalog of services is completed with the Open Data portal, which includes information that is free to access and use for all citizens, with more than 130 data sources of various types, so that entrepreneurs can use them to develop new innovative applications and services..

All of this is just part of the smart city project that will be completed over the coming weeks with new services and applications., which in parallel will be crossed with the information provided from the pilots to have a comprehensive vision of the city.

'Integrating brain'

The platform of Coruña Smart City is based on SOFIA2, the Internet of Things solution (IoT) from Indra with big data and cloud capabilities that allow you to easily integrate and share information from different systems, mobile devices or social networks.

It is a large management center or 'integrating brain' that facilitates communication between the different services and solutions that make up the city's ecosystem. (mobility, agua, energy, environment, leisure and tourism, etc.) to offer a complete view of the activity. It also includes analysis tools to predict the city's behavior in relation to the use of services to better and proactively adapt them to real needs..

In practice, there will be smart cameras to control traffic, capable of foreseeing situations that help make better decisions to facilitate mobility; The automatic irrigation of municipal gardens will work according to needs and not by time. Information will also be offered to citizens so that they know, before leaving home, What is the status of the city's parking lots and can plan your routes, o control and take measures to avoid an increase in noise levels in spaces where its impact could be very negative. (proximity to hospitals, schools, parks,…).

On the other hand, During the first phase of the project, the design was also carried out, development and installation in several parks and public buildings in the city of the first gateways to connect sensors and other elements for collecting information in the city with the urban platform, through R's high-speed fiber optic network.

Pilots in execution phase

Another of the pilot projects that is in the execution phase is the meter remote management pilot. The City Council of La Coruña began the installation of smart meters at the beginning of last January, which will be carried out in more than a thousand homes and premises in the city so that water consumption can be controlled at all times and better plan needs.

The rest of the pilots underway that will be integrated into the urban platform are: parking inteligente; water quality and early warning system; remote management of supply networks; energy efficiency in municipal buildings; smart irrigation; air quality and noise system; energy improvement of the A Telva water treatment plant; traffic optimization; interaction with citizens and the BIO project.

• State-of-the-art sensor and actuator platforms to measure a wide range of parameters in the urban environment, with very low consumption and advanced features beyond monitoring (high precision positioning, tracking of people and objects,…).
• Comprehensive Urban Management System (SIG-U) Smart Coruña with WOA approach (Web Oriented Architecture) and cloud technologies, in combination with Geospatial Information Systems (SAY), 3D visualization and augmented reality techniques (RA), that allows working with a large number of variables and data, from various sources, in real time.
