Mobile Engagement transforms the Museum of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando
The companies Aruba Networks and Mobile Experience have developed an innovative technological project at the Museum of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando to transform the visitor experience through a Mobile Engagement solution and beacons.
He Museum of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando Madrid has an important artistic heritage, which includes more than 1.400 paintings, 600 sculptures and 15.000 drawings, as well as prints, furniture, silver and goldsmith's objects, porcelain and other decorative arts, which mostly date from when the royal academy was inaugurated, in 1752.
Precisely due to the extension of this heritage, Its managers decided to launch a technological project to improve the experience of its visitors and offer them the possibility of exploring the museum and its five centuries of art in a completely interactive way through their mobile device. .
This is a technological project, until now a pioneer in Europe, which is based on the new platform provided by the provider Aruba Networks and implemented by Mobile Experience, trademark of the Spanish company Museum Experience, through a deployment that combines the Meridian platform, that facilitates the creation of the applications that the user accesses.
Added to this are the Aruba Beacons, small transmitters that emit radio signals via low energy bluetooth (BLE, smart bluetooth o bluetooth low energy) at regular intervals so that they can be recognized by iOS or Android devices that have the museum application downloaded.
For this project, an average of three beacons have been installed in each of the museum rooms., expanding or reducing its number depending on its size and the influx of visitors. These systems locate the visitor, through the app, inside the museum with a precision of +/- 1m and can direct you to the place you want.
The application developed by Mobile Experience is also capable of managing beacons remotely., activating or deactivating them, as well as change the message they emit. In managed service mode, Mobile Experience controls for the museum that all technology works properly and offers reports with the most relevant data for decision-making by those responsible for this facility..
Museo 2.0 personalizado
When the visitor enters the museum, Just connect to the free Wi-Fi network provided and download the app for iOS or Android. Through it you can personalize your tour, adapting it to your available time and your profile, whether it is a visit from a, two and up to three hours; especially recommended for children, for students, etc. or adapted to people with disabilities.
For this reason, if you previously download the App, You can prepare your visit in advance and create customized itineraries, which is completed with detailed and updated information, audios, photos and even videos of the works exhibited in the museum.
Another feature of this application is that the visitor can locate any point of interest located in the museum., from that work or sculpture that you don't want to miss to services like the souvenir shop or the cafeteria.
The app can be configured to add as many languages as the museum needs, in such a way that it automatically detects the language of the visitor's device and presents all the information and content in the same language (at the Royal Academy is available in English and Spanish). The same application serves all of them and access to information is universal regardless of the language..
Efficient turnkey management
This turnkey solution provided by Mobile Experience supported by Aruba Networks technology not only has benefits for visitors, but rather makes valuable information available to museum managers to get to know their visitors and plan their activities based on their profile..
The information generated includes flows of people, but also the level of interest in the collection (most visited works and time spent viewing them). Knowing which are the favorite paintings or the most popular itineraries allows you to create other new itineraries that allow you to discover an unprecedented museum. In the same way, This information helps improve the efficiency of operations, facilitating crowd control and access management.
An element highly valued by museum managers is the possibility of immediately updating in the application all changes in the status of the works that may affect visitors or itineraries.. This also includes the incorporation of temporary exhibitions into the App, so that the visit is as complete as possible.
This Mobile Engagement solution can also be used in other types of environments that want to improve the relationship with their users, providing them with a better customer experience, personalized information and promotions according to your profile, etc.
In this sense, Indoor location technology is applicable to sectors such as hotels, hospitals, shopping centers, retail, stadiums, convention centers, airports, stations,…to offer services such as personalized routes, location of shops or points of interest (toilets, cashiers, etc.); Linking with other additional services such as parking or cinemas; location of children or even messages with tailored promotions. The system allows you to improve internal operations and obtain usage statistics on the behavior of the visitor and/or employees inside the different facilities..
