Antequera Light Fest seeks to turn the city into the benchmark for Spanish videomapping festivals
This initiative, which will have its first demonstration this Sunday at Puerta de Estepa, will unite technology companies and video creators from all over the country to present their artistic audiovisual works with the aim of turning the city into a laboratory of light technologies.
He Antequera Town Hall wants to turn the city into a pioneering environment for audiovisual techniques and with this objective has launched the Light Fest festival, the first edition of which will be held in July 2017 and will last one week. The objective is to unite innovation with cultural and monumental heritage.
Antequera Light Fest is an audiovisual and creative event that seeks to become a global attraction for the city and make it the first city in Malaga and Andalusia., as well as one of the first in Spain, to host these types of festivals.
The mayor of Antequera, Manolo Baron, has confirmed that the intention is for Antequera to become a kind of pilot city for audiovisual and technological festivals based on videomapping, hosting a creators' laboratory throughout the year with the ultimate goal of developing the first edition of Antequera Light Fest in mid-July next year 2017.
This festival was born with the objective of uniting history and technology, turning the city into a canvas on which to project advanced audiovisual technologies such as videomapping, 3D, stereoscopy, lighting installations, laser, video creation and advanced digital content, that will be projected on a canvas made up of monumental buildings spread throughout the city.
As a preview of what this festival will be like next year, The City Council has organized for Sunday 17 July a light and sound show that will take place at Puerta de Estepa, complementing the activities organized around the Food Truck and the development of the UNESCO committee in Istanbul, that will decide if the group of dolmens in the area is a World Heritage Site.
