Samsung creates the installation 'The origin of Quantum dot' with German artists and SUHD TVs
Along with the news presented at IFA 2016, The company promotes its presence at the event with a unique exhibition that combines the creativity of a team of German artists with the Quantum dot panel technology that SUHD televisions incorporate, along with audiovisual elements, lighting and sound.
'The origin of Quantum dot' is an artistic installation that visitors to IFA 2016 still have the chance to see, since the contest will close its doors today, fruit of the creative collaboration of a team of German artists to compose a unique work of art by 9.000 stained glass helmets -with sound, video and sculptures- y 45 SUHD televisions Samsung Electronics with Quamtum dot technology.
As HS Kim explains, president of the Visual Display division of Samsung Electronics, “we designed the exhibition ‘The origin of Quantum dot’, the largest produced to date, so that IFA visitors 2016 can directly experience the visual excellence of premium SUHD TVs with Quantum dot panel. “We are proud to have collaborated with such talented local artists to bring this visual concept to life.”.
The first antecedents of Quantum dot technology can date back to the Middle Ages, when stained glass windows were used for the colors they emitted through natural light. In the decade of 1980, Quantum dots were first discovered as display materials, using ultrafine semiconductor particles, to emit different colors through light.
This technology offers a wider range of colors simply by varying particle size. This allows Samsung's line of SUHD TVs with Quantum dot panels to produce more realistic colors while providing a durable base that maintains the brightness and color of the screens..
“In the same way that display technology and innovation through light emissions have progressed in the last century, “The use of Quantum dot technology has marked a new era in the history of television.”, asgura Kim.
In the so-called Quantum dot Experience Zone, located at the entrance to the Samsung stand at IFA (level 2 by CityCube Berlin), Visitors are invited to learn more about the past, the present and future of Quantum dot, with information on its durability, size, material and color efficiency, which is reflected in 45 SUHD television models, in sizes ranging from 65 at 78”, as part of the aforementioned artistic installation.
In the center of the stand is the Rethink Zone, which shows innovative products with useful and practical functionalities to make users' daily lives easier. The Smart TV Zone offers visitors the chance to watch a preview of TV Plus, the video on demand service that the company already offers in South Korea and whose launch in the United States is scheduled for the fourth quarter of the year, and in Europe for 2017.
In this sense, several Samsung Electronics content partners - including 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Amazon y Netflix, in addition to TV Plus- present their HDR and UHD services, as well as exclusive games for the company's Smart TVs.
The AV Zone includes a complete 4K entertainment experience, equipped with Samsung SUHD televisions, the Ultra HD Blu-ray player (UBD-K8500) and the HW-K950 sound bar, that incorporates Dolby Atmos technology, to live a cinematic and entertaining experience.
