Tripleplay at Mercedes-Benz Arena

Opened in 2008, the Mercedes-Benz Arena is a multipurpose facility located in Berlin, owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG). With capacity for up to 17,000 Spectators, is one of the largest stadiums in Germany and has hosted some of the most important groups and teams in the world of music and sports such as NHL Ice Hockey , FIBA Basketball and UFC. in 2015, Mercedes-Benz became the main sponsor of the venue; formerly O2 World.

After the investment of its new sponsor, AEG chose to upgrade the stadium's technological infrastructure, with a new digital signage and IPTV system to improve the customer experience and develop new revenue opportunities.

AEG wanted a cost-effective IPTV and digital signage solution that offered all the features the modern stadium expected with remote screen control., content scheduling, Triggers (triggers) of events, social media delivery, user access control and low-latency IP transmission. The technology of Tripleplay has been the option chosen for the new technological infrastructure of the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Around 200 Displays with IPTV and digital signage capabilities have been implemented in the Mercedes-Benz Arena using Tripleplay IPTV Head End and Digital Signage CMS. A solution that works with HP Enterprise and STB decoders Amino H150, in charge of delivering the contents to screens Nec professional-level.

Screens were displayed in VIP areas, Bars, restaurants and points of sale of the F&B, giving AEG a direct communication channel with the public in all areas of the venue and a large network to distribute streaming.

Tripleplay's platform is also integrated with Schauff's bookmarking software and iCast, allowing statistics and play times to be displayed on any of the screens, providing a single point for the venue team to manage the day of the event.

As a source of additional content, Triplesign Digital Signage from Tripleplay distributes the social media used by the Mercedes-Benz Arena, creating an instant platform for visitors, linking the mobile experience to the flat screen.

Low-latency streaming

As part of the solution, Tripleplay's low-latency HD Encoder has been deployed at the Mercedes-Benz Arena enabling the transmission of live events and sports broadcasts from ‘ in-bowl’ to any display or device in the digital signage network, with less than 300 milliseconds of end-to-end delay.

By ensuring that low latency of live content, visitors are made more inclined to leave their seats and visit food and beverage establishments or shops without missing any of the action that is taking place in the play area.

To ensure that access to the system is controlled and fully compliant with AEG policies, the tripleplay solution is integrated into the operator's active directory user access system and meets corporate security requirements.

This integration ensures that users of the Tripleplay platform are only presented with the areas of the system to which they have access, providing an additional level of security and control for the technical team of the site.

Mercedes-Benz Arena has also implemented Tripleplay's STB customer control solution, TripleClient, on employees' tablets and phones, to program the turning on and off of the screens and projectors of the rooms, alter the volume of the screen and allow ad-hoc control of each of them. In this way, a unique experience is achieved in each of the 200 installed screens.
