He Pala Casino Resort and Spa has revamped the way it distributed video content across its facilities. The PC-based video multicast solution, inherited from the casino, was limited to 480p content, and the hardware began to pose certain problems that affected the reliability of delivery. This is why he decided to hire Red Dot Digital Media to perform a review of your video network.

Red Dot, partner of BrightSign, has designed a personalized network composed of 75 screens and powered by a complete line of BrightSign media players.

“Working closely with Pala Casino's IT and Marketing departments, We designed the project in two phases to minimize interruptions and spread the investment over several months. In addition to the original design, Red Dot was responsible for the installation, player settings, as well as the delivery of a high-quality multicasting system that allows Pala Casino to easily control its complex content distribution program”, Darryl Kuder commented, President de Red Dot Digital Media.

Two BrightSign media players were installed during the first phase of the project., an XD1132 and a 4K1142, in the DPU room of the Pala Casino. When acquiring content from an existing bank of servers, Media players select and distribute content from 17 video channels, custom designed. The 4K1142 pulls content from a selection of sources, and outputs it via HDMI to the XD1132, which in turn distributes it to the players located on the screens.

In a second phase, a similar work flow was continued., this time powered by two BrightSign XT1143 players at the channel level. One of them sends content to 75 LS423 players installed on the back of the screens.

In both cases, content is loaded into a front-end player, which then pushes to the secondary player via HDMI. BrightSign secondary player encodes and streams content to each LS423, that are connected to screens installed in the casino.

“The most notable change for casino guests is that we have upgraded our content from 480p to 1080p, but the most impressive achievement of this project is what is happening behind the scenes. We have a remarkably complex variety of video channels, and we can distribute that content easily, gracias, largely, to our partners at Red Dot and BrightSign”, explica Alex Ponomarev, Media Services Manager of Pala Casino.

Distribute and schedule content 17 video channels to a network made up of 75 screens required extensive custom coding. Red Dot worked closely with BrightSign to develop custom code to convert content and stream it.

The software was used Crestron Fusion to create this custom solution, which allows Pala Casino Marketing staff to preload the week's content and schedule it through a series of UDP commands. Considering that many screens on the casino floor alternate between 5-6 channels per day, The custom solution does a remarkable job of simplifying the complex task of scheduling content..
