for this show, Directed by Lighthouse Productions, Dataton's Watchout multi-screen system has been used to map two giant projection areas.
Sixty years of service on behalf of citizens has been more than enough reason for the Abu Dhabi Police, capital and second most populous city of the United Arab Emirates, celebrated this anniversary with a spectacular event and showed its new corporate identity.
In addition to parades with impeccable choreography, of vehicles and live demonstrations by force officers, as well as speeches from different authorities, The backdrop of this celebration featured enormous projections, based on turnkey production design and management by Lighthouse Productions (LHP).
This company, based in Dubai, selected Watchout multi-screen software Dataton to map two huge projection zones, made up of a main screen, with an area of 100×10 metros, and a floor area of 50×37 metros.
As Terry Miranda explains, general manager of LHP, “We had used Watchout before in smaller exhibitions, but this was, by far, the largest platform and the one that presented the greatest challenges, since there were two huge and separate projection areas”.
The celebration was attended by senior dignitaries from all major entities related to the Abu Dhabi Police and was the culmination of a series of previous commemorative events. With a duration of 110 minutes, the limited setup time available and ground mapping, V-shaped, were a technological challenge.
LHP's audiovisual team used seven projectors Panasonic of the DZ21K model, each one with 20.000 lumens, and Watchout Geometric Correction feature to seamlessly adjust and map the ground projection area, con 1.850 m2.
With the ground covered, The main screen and its six projectors were addressed using the Dataton system's masking function to obtain a smooth mix during projection.
The anniversary show also combined numerous content elements to coincide with the speakers' interventions and performances.. “The extensive support for numerous codecs in Watchout made it possible to use a wide variety of formats for the show, which allowed our AV team to prepare the presentation files without requiring constant input from the creative team”, Terry Miranda points out.
Another highlight in this regard was the ability to preview the entire show and its flexibility for last minute changes.. “Watchout saved LHP and the project a considerable amount of time through rendering large files,” adds this manager., and allowed the videos to be superimposed on each other without problems”.
