Christie and GDLUZ 2019 Mapping

For the third consecutive year, Christie has been the technological partner of the Guadalajara light festival GDLUZ, which has been held in the Mexican city of the same name. Organized by the company Alteacorp, on the occasion of the celebration of 477 anniversary of the founding of the city in alliance with the local government, took place in the historic center of the city, con 40 light-inspired attractions.

Consolidated as the largest night festival in Mexico, The event had more than 1.100.000 attendees who enjoyed, for four days, of a large poster with videomapping, multimedia shows, interactive projections, live music and art installations.

One of the main attractions of the festival was a projection mapping at the Cabañas Institute for which a Christie Boxer 4K30 3DLP projector from 30.000 lumens and 4K resolution. “We chose this equipment for its resolution and power. This is an excellent projector, easy to use and very powerful. One of the jewels in Christie's crown”, explains Carlos Márquez, projection director of Alteacorp.

Another of the strong points of the show was an installation in which users interacted with a video mapping for which a Christie Crimson WU25 laser 3DLP technology projector was used., WUXGA resolution and 25.000 center lumens.

"In this case, We opted for this machine for its sharpness and the short throw type. And a feature that was very important to achieve this interactive project was that the equipment allows the projection area to be reduced dynamically.. With this feature we were able to concentrate the projection in a very short space”, Marquez assures. “

To manage these projections, Alteacorp made use of the Christie Pandoras Box media server 6.0, specifically a Pandoras Box Manager and a Pandoras Box Player. “In the case of mapping at the Cabañas Institute, Pandoras Box was the key piece of the project, since with this tool we synchronize lighting, audio, video and pyrotechnics. In the interactive project, “We use a Pandoras Box Player to capture the video game from a second system.”, remember Marquez.
