The Aura Festival 2019 turns Sintra into a projection canvas with Christie as a technological partner
With the assistance of some 24.000 visitors to this Portuguese city, The event featured fifteen equipment from the manufacturer to project on surfaces as varied as facades, chimneys, totems, grounds, tents and even on the water.
Multimedia projections, interactive audiovisual installations, videomapping and light sculptures have taken over the historic center of the Portuguese city of Sintra to celebrate the light festival Aura, which this year attracted 24.000 visitors and has had Christie as a technological partner.
Through your local partner ADLC Audiovisuals, technical event production company, Christie deployed fifteen projectors to bring to life the different audiovisuals of the festival, which this year were focused on the topic of environment and sustainability.
As Patrícia Freire explains, artistic director of Aura, “The partnership with Christie and ADLC Audiovisuais is very important to us, both for the quality of the equipment and for the technical consulting they offer us, in addition to providing us with the most attractive audiovisuals for our visitors”.
Precisely the use of the best audiovisual technology is a priority in this festival, which has the EFFE European Quality Seal awarded by the Association of European Festivals (EFF).
The installations in which Christie teams participated included an impressive mapping of 47 metros, created by the well-known collective of visual artists Oskar & Gaspar on the facade of the National Palace of Sintra, UNESCO World Heritage, for which two 3DLP projectors of 20.000 lumens each.
They also highlighted a spectacular projection by the artist Alfred Kurz on a fireplace, which was carried out with a Christie DWU635-GS equipment, and another on water by German Torsten Mühlbach with the same model of 1DLP laser projector, WUXGA resolution and a power of 6.750 lumens. This system includes warping and blending technology from the factory., dynamic contrast, 360º orientation and portrait and landscape modes.
José Cordeiro, director of ADLC Audiovisuals, points out that “the challenge was important due to the large number of installations to be mapped on surfaces as varied as facades, chimneys, totems, grounds, tents and even on the water”.

The result has been impressive and the public was amazed by the striking colors achieved in the different projections of the festival”.
