Criss Angel Mindfreak Show Delivers Immersive, Surrounding Sound with DAS Audio
The sound system in this production receives 23 different input signals 3 DSP processors 4080 managed by DASnet and 3 DX series amplifiers with built-in processing, controlling 41 independent audio outputs, that feed a multichannel system.
THE audio worked with the producer, director and artist Criss Angel, and his sound designer Aaron Beck, to make the sound equipment that was going to be used in the show Criss Angel Mindfreak that is performed in the main theater of the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino until next December.
It is an immersive theatrical and musical experience that integrates the most sophisticated and innovative technology.. The design goal was to provide an emotionally stimulating and immersive listening experience for the audience. The sound engineer, Jimmy Kwon, pointed out the needs of the show, “Criss needed a sound system capable of reproducing different frequency ranges, from EDM to the rock spirit of his master illusions and that, besides, "It will provide clarity in the moments in which he speaks or acts.".
With these demands, The project focused on the design of a multichannel sound system that would create a quality immersive audio experience in all parts of the show..
“After adjusting the delay between the sources and equalizing the system, It was shown that the design would be able to meet Criss's demands just as he wanted.. Your vision, along with design by Aaron and programming by musical director DJeff, “It became a reality thanks to the performance of the DAS Audio system.”, explica Jimmy Kwon.

The multi-channel design consists of a main system of 2 Aero-20A and Aero-20.120A clusters, the flown UX-218RA subwoofers and two Aero-8A central systems, together with the Artec-510A and 508A as Frontfill reinforcement.
The installation was reinforced with 6 powerful UX-30A for low-frequency playback and Artec-510 systems and 526 and Vantec-12 as side and rear reinforcement powered by DX amplifiers that function as part of the sound immersion of the show.
Besides, the main system uses DASaim, optimizing SPL distribution and frequency response across the audience.
“Once in operation, “We quickly realized that the system could do anything we wanted and thus provide a unique experience to the public.”, commented Aaron Beck, sound designer.
