Mediapro renews CosmoCaixa room

After being closed for seven months, the permanent room CosmoCaixa has reopened its doors. During this time a profound renovation has been carried out by the hand of Mediapro, who has been in charge of the design and has produced the museographic project.

Mediapro renews CosmoCaixa roomIn their 3.500 m2, the Universe room offers about 200 experiences, most of them interactive, where the visitor can learn how the world works and, besides, experience it. An interactive tour that dates back to the creation of the cosmos, It traces the evolution of species and penetrates the depths of the human brain.

The room is divided into three sections: Cosmic, that explains the laws that govern the universe; Evolution, which shows the first living organisms that appeared on our planet and their evolution to the present day; y, finally, Borders. In this last section the complexity of the human brain is visualized and the new materials created by humans are experimented with..

CosmoUniverse room boxThe current Universe room is structured based on the design of collaborator Isern Serra and the implementation of large elements that function as lighthouses.. A large audiovisual bell immerses the visitor in the exciting expansion of the universe.

In Evolution you can see how a bioreactor produces algae that can serve as food; while in Borders, a large dome allows the visitor to observe a human brain and compare it with those of other animals.

In the center of the room, an interactive ball of more than 2,5 meters in diameter makes the public reflect on the consequences of the human footprint on the planet. From maps made by the NOAA agency and NASA, You can see how waste islands form in the oceans, how the temperature has increased in the last century or the traces of the planes that fly over us.

Since its inauguration, fifteen years ago, CosmoCaixa has established itself as the first science museum in Spain and one of the most prominent in Europe. Throughout its history, has brought science closer to 11,7 millions of people, and in 2018 broke his audience record, with more than a million visitors. Now, to respond to new challenges, has remodeled the permanent room and is projected as one of the most modern in the world.
