To carry out this project on the Adiyogi statue, Watchout mapping software and Watchmax media servers from Dataton have been used., as well as 24 laser projectors 15.000 Epson lumens.

With a height of 34 metros, the statue of Adiyogi towers over the Isha Yoga Center, Isha Foundation headquarters, on the outskirts of Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu-India). every weekend, He comes to life with a spectacular projection that tells the story of the appearance of the Adiyogi.

Watchout mapping software and Watchmax media servers from Dataton, surround sound and projectors Epson help carry out this production of Axis Three Dee Studios.

The show, produced and reproduced with the Watchout system is a chronicle of 14 minutes and 10 seconds long, depicting the story of how Adiyogi transmitted the ancient science of Yoga to his seven disciples (CALLS SAPRARISHIS), to his beloved, Devi Parvati and her companions, the 'formless Ganas'. The founder of Isha, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, complement 4K content with a background narrative.

The center appointed Axis Three Dee Studios to execute the project from start to finish, including full production of the visuals with CEO Avijit Samajdar, taking on the role of producer and director.

Epson projectors were also used in the staging to ensure that the show is performed with maximum impact to reach visitors and devotees in a visually immersive way..

black surface

The Adiyogi statue, who holds the Guinness record for the largest bust in the world, It is made of steel and painted black. The satin finish and highly uneven topography required creative thinking from the team at Axis Three Dee Studios.

“Projection mappings are usually done on lighter colored surfaces that reflect light evenly, unlike black, which largely absorbs it. Besides, Gloss on the surface meant the right colors weren't showing up and the team designed a unique color palette (real-time color cancellation process) to counteract the interference tones of the shiny surface”, comment Avijit Samajdar, CEO de Axis Three Dee Studios.

Another challenge was the magnitude of the project. The entire surface to be projected was more than 2.438 square meters. To achieve full image coverage with sharp, vibrant images, were used 24 high tech laser projectors 15.000 Epson lumens, running under Dataton Watchout, in a stacking configuration.

“Due to certain restrictions inherent to the locations for the permanent configuration of the two projection towers, the technical team arranged the projectors into four stacked sets, to guarantee maximum optimization of lumens and the angle of incidence of the projected light”, explains Avijit Samajdar.

The center did not want to have a projection tower built in front of the Adiyogi statue, as this could obstruct the view and visitors. The solution was to build two towers, limited height, at angles of 45 degrees. “The left tower covers the entire left side of the statue and the right tower covers the right side.”, comments Ashok Sharma from Dataton.

“The mapped program was programmed in Watchout production software by Manesh ‘Manu’ Kadam and we then deployed two Watchmax media servers to ensure perfect mapping of the content on the surface of the Adiyogi, from the left and right sides. The servers are also integrated with the sound of 5.1 from Sirvinder Pal Singh's show (Lucky Singh), founder of Purple Vector, Responsible for overall AV system integration”.

The Watchout system was chosen for its track record as a reliable and versatile tool for mapping applications..
