Martin Audio meets the entertainment needs of the Scarlet Lady cruise ship
At his nightclub The Manor, four WPS have been installed to the left and right of the stage, flying over the SX218 subwoofers. This is completed with four other matrices, each of three WPS, that flow on the dance floor. The system is powered by four iKon iK42 amplifiers.
The integrator Wärtsilä Entertainment Systems solved the challenge of offering a premium nightclub experience at sea with the installation of the WPS optimized line array, recently launched by Martin Audio.
The latest member of the Wavefront Precision family was specified long before its official launch to meet Scarlet Lady's entertainment needs., the first ship in the fleet Virgin Voyages.
“We begin the audio specification for the boat in 2016, but thanks to the relationship with Martin Audio we were able to glimpse the product roadmap and, as a consequence, we believed the product that would become WPS was perfect for the nightclub. Offered the perfect combination of high performance, control, consistency and coverage in an ultra-compact format, in line with the vision of Virgin Voyages”, explains Rob Shuard, Vice President of Design and Engineering at Wärtsilä Entertainment Systems.
The Manor nightclub is named after Virgin's first music studio in England. The space was designed using two tall decks to maximize the feel of the room and mimic the structure of land-based clubs.. Wärtsilä Entertainment Systems has equipped TheManor with a cutting-edge acoustic design to support DJ sets, and Martin Audio's WPS takes pride of place.
The setup in the nightclub consists of four WPS on the left and right of the stage, flying over the SX218 subwoofers. Complementing this are four other matrices, each of three WPS, that flow on the dance floor. The system is powered by four iKon iK42 amplifiers that support two-box resolution for greater coverage, consistency and control.
Virgin Voyages is a new company that aims to redefine the sea travel experience. While on the boat, Virgin Voyages Sailors will have the opportunity to choose from a line-up of completely new festival-like entertainment developed by some of the producers, directors and artists as part of the company's Creative Collective.
“Virgin Voyages will redefine entertainment at sea and to help fulfill this mission, It is essential that we have the latest technology and superior audio to enrich our sailors' experience on board.. Low distortion, Tonal richness and clarity from Wavefront Precision's latest line in The Manor deliver endless hours of pumping tunes to our sailors.”, explica Daren Hirst, director of Entertainment Technical at Virgin Voyages.
WPS is designed to set a new benchmark for linear arrays of 8 “and is the fourth model in the Wavefront Precision optimized line array series. It is a passive system of 3 track that integrates a high density of drive units in a very compact housing.
It has two 8-inch LF drivers.″, four 4-inch midrange drivers″ and four 1-inch HF compression drivers” output, powered by a molded HF horn that spans the entire width of the cabinet, defining the 100° horizontal constant directivity coverage pattern of the HF and midrange sections.
4 Midrange Drivers″ They are compression loaded to increase efficiency and enter the horn walls through annular grooves near the HF throat to effectively add to the wavefront..
In the HF section, four 1-output compression drivers″ deliver pristine high-frequency sound without the harshness and distortion associated with larger format devices.
8” LF drivers are placed behind HF speaker walls, with a small volume of air in front of each driver increasing output at the upper end of its operating range. LF output openings are spaced horizontally to provide useful horizontal LF pattern control.
