Digital Projection puts its technology at the service of the Kuwait Habitat Museum
Smartentiy has selected the E-Vision 13K projectors from this manufacturer, with Red Laser color reinforcement technology, to renovate the centerpiece of the museum: a vibrant and dynamic exhibition that takes a tour of the history of the planet.
The park Al Shaheed, located in Kuwait City, in the capital of this Arab state in the Persian Gulf, houses the Museum of Remembrance and the Museum of Habitat (Kuwait Habitat Museum). While the first focuses on the critical – and often violent – moments that shaped this state, The second is more concerned with promoting its natural flora and fauna through a wide variety of interactive exhibitions and scenic recreations..
The centerpiece of this museum has an audiovisual projection, on a screen 26 metros, showing the beauty of Kuwait's different habitats through spectacular panoramic views.
Although this has continued to be one of the visitors' favorite parts since its incorporation into the museum, Those responsible decided that it was necessary to improve the projector to develop the full potential offered by this exhibition. For this, They went to the specialist Smartentity (conocida como SEC – systems integration solutions) to offer advice, knowledge and experience.
Youssef Ismail, deputy general director of SEC, “We have had a long relationship with Amiri Diwan, project department manager. They trust us and our experience. When they told us that they wanted to start changing a part of their installation in the museum, “We evaluated their needs and suggested what would fit best in terms of the equipment that had to be used.”.
Although at first the client did not know the products of Digital Projection, Ismail did not hesitate to call Rayan Soumsom, regional manager of the manufacturer in the Middle East, to ask for advice. After knowing what the needs of the facilities were, Soumsom suggested that his new E-Vision projectors 13000, with Red Laser color reinforcement technology would be the perfect solution.
For this central area of the museum he determined that seven E-Vision 13K devices were needed to cover the display screen. 26 metros. The company also provided four more E-Vision projectors that have been installed downwards, in order to cover the surface of a table of 4×3 metros.
The contents of the newly updated part of the museum show thousands of years of the natural history of the state of Kuwait and are the work of audiovisual specialists Electrosonic, UK based.
“With the new Digital Projection units and their greater reach, blending the edges became a challenge, since the fusion areas are much larger -explains Ismail-. We still have the same content, the same media servers Dataton Watchout and the same networks Cisco, so it was necessary to do a new calibration. It was also the first time we installed projectors from this manufacturer with ColorBoost + Red Laser. It was quite a challenge, but we got over it and the space has improved with the update”.
Given the museum is an active environment, one of the requirements of those responsible is that the integration process - which had to be perfect -, will not affect the flow of visitors, which was solved with a lot of night work.
“We had a lot of remote support from Digital Projection and knew we could call Rayan Soumsom whenever we needed him; who spent a full day helping us through the calibration process and giving us advice on how to make our lives easier. “The UK support team was in constant contact with him to make sure things were running smoothly.”, remember Ismail.
After the success of this project, SEC and the museum are now identifying other areas of the building that need modernization. “In view of the comprehensive support we received from Digital Projection during the installation of the Kuwait Habitat Museum, Now we want to continue working with them -says Ismail-. We want to promote your excellent products and service. The next project will surely require us to use the color calibration service offered by Digital Projection, that matches the colors of the projectors before shipping them”.
