This Frisco eSports center (Texas - EU) has chosen this spectacular Led display system, in which a pixel pitch of 4 and of 10 mm, as the centerpiece of the installation.

The audiovisual specialist Design Communications (DCL) has trusted the manufacturer's Led screens Daktronics for the project carried out in the eSports center Complexity Gaming, in the state of Texas, with the installation of a spectacular double-sided display system that undulates along the wall.

As Jeff Grantz explains, director of creative technologies at DCL, “We have trusted Daktronics for being one of the reference suppliers of Led screens, based in USA. This project, despite its great engineering complexity, It ended up being a perfect application for Daktronics Led modules, of 3 inches, with 4mm and 10 mm”.

Among other challenges of the project, “We collaborated with the Daktronics engineering team to solve a very closed curve that adjusts to the various rotations of the ribbon, while integrating the support structure, the necessary power supplies and drivers within a custom cabinet 7 inches deep, manufactured by DCL. Really, “The complexity of this project lived up to the name of the facility”, Grantz emphasizes.

The concept was designed by Icrave NY, whose team turned to DCL and Daktronics to solve the challenge of creating a high resolution LED digital solution, de 4mm de pixel pitch, that appears to float within the architectural environment. A unique design challenge that was overcome thanks to the deep collaboration of the Daktronics engineering team with DCL's precision design experts, creative manufacturing and installation methods.

The creative use of building blocks with 4mm LED modules produced curved and undulating features towards the interior of the space., which was combined with LED technology 10 mm. high density Led, on the back of the curve, to optimize resolution and brightness for various audiences, both inside and outside the facility.

“We are excited to work with creative designers, technology integrators and manufacturing partners pushing the boundaries of perception of what digital media can be in the entertainment industry”, says Jeff Everson, spectacular applications engineer at Daktronics.

The largest visual section that looks into the space has a pixel pitch of 4mm and measures 0,9 meters high by 16,1 long. The smaller outward facing section also has 4 mm. of pixel spacing and measures 0,9 meters high by 35 long. The largest section facing outwards is 10mm apart and measures 0,9 meters high by 12,6 long.

These three sections combine to form a spectacular unique double-sided display capable of displaying the brand image., the graphics and artistic content above the playing area and rotating towards the ground at one end.

“We believe that eSports is an emerging market, with many opportunities for unique interior displays and applications - highlights Steve Bayer, director of special projects at Daktronics-. We are well positioned with our family of products, including narrow pixel pitch technology (NPP) to offer solutions for these unique applications. It is a fantastic project that highlights our design and engineering capabilities in support of our partners, like DCL, and we are proud to be part of it”.

The exterior section is visible to passersby through the windows, while the interior can show the same or different content to attract a different audience, depending on the time of day and the needs of the event.

Covid-19: Daktronics operations continue to respond to demand

The manufacturer has sent a statement in which it points out that “Daktronics' top priority is to protect the well-being of our employees., suppliers, clients and the community in general, while continuing to offer quality products and services, helping to ensure the sustainability of the organization and preserving long-term intrinsic value for our shareholders”.

In this sense, from Daktronics they emphasize that “five of our seven global factories continue production to fulfill orders. This includes our four largest factories located in South Dakota (EU). We voluntarily comply with regional orders to suspend production at our factories in Ireland and Minnesota for two weeks, in which it is planned to fully resume production the week of 13 April.

“Daktronics’ global manufacturing strategy has enabled us to achieve minimal to no disruption to our ability to deliver orders.”. We are making great efforts to ensure a safe and healthy manufacturing environment in accordance with the protocols set by the WHO and US health institutions and other applicable regulatory agencies., improving and implementing demanding health protocols, safety and cleanliness throughout our organization”.
