The post-production department of this Japanese company has improved audio monitoring in its main projection room with a new system from the audio manufacturer.

Con 42 seating, the projection room of the Toei Studios from Kyoto (Japan) can be converted into a dubbing stage by removing a few seats and replacing them with a mixing console. This space is now in constant use, since directors, Producers and post-production professionals rely on the precision of powered speaker systems from Meyer Sound.

The screening room is part of Toei Studios' extensive post-production campus in this Japanese city., which includes Foley, ADR and editorial facilities. The studio produces a steady stream of Japanese-language films and television shows, mainly for national distribution.

Shinichi Yokoyama, post-production center director, emphasizes the critical importance of reliability in an audio monitoring system. “We strive to convey the sound as originally intended in the production, and we are proud that now the sound heard in the dubbing stage can be fully reproduced in the projection room”.

Meyer Sound's Acheron Studio full-range speakers, brand that sells in Spain RMS Pro Audio, They are in charge of the three channels on the screen. Low frequencies are reproduced with all the power and definition by three X-800C cinema subwoofers. All these channels are managed from the Galileo GalaxyA network platform 816. Ten HMS-5 surround sound speakers complete the system.

Before selecting this solution, Toei Studios post-production staff evaluated different options. “I had heard a Meyer Sound system at the Warner Bros. studio a few years ago,” Yokoyama recalls.- and I really liked the clear and direct sound quality, particularly with the English dialogue. I thought the system would reproduce that same clarity for Japanese dialogue.”.

After installing the new system, Yokoyama assures that now “we have better acoustic insulation and the previous speakers could not compete with our current Meyer Sound system in terms of intelligibility.. We have had very good responses from all our audio staff, including recording engineers.
