‘Campus Crossroad’ project continues to expand with Crestron AV technology
More than 175 classrooms and spaces of different types at the University of Notre Dame are supported by this manufacturer's technology as part of this transformation and digitalization project, which continues to be implemented on the North American campus.
Recognized as one of the leading institutions of higher learning in the United States, the University of Notre Dame, a private, Catholic institution located in the state of Indiana, has more than 12.000 students from all over the world to whom it offers professional and postgraduate degrees, in which technology is a key element in learning.
In this sense, Notre Dame has revolutionized its approach to education by developing a catalog of basic audiovisual standards, built on the technology of Crestron (as it progressed Digital AV), each designed specifically to transform and digitize campus spaces, from classrooms to conference rooms, of seminars, from studio to their auditoriums and offices.
Precisely, the project Campus Crossroads is part of this transformation, and it is the largest construction initiative in the history of this university, with more than 74.3000 m2 dedicated to classes, investigation, common spaces, shows, events, etc.
The project's three new buildings have views of Notre Dame Stadium and have academic spaces, libraries and reception rooms, where standards-based audiovisual technologies have been deployed across campus, whose integration has been carried out ND Studios AV Technologies of Notre Dame, under the coordination of your manager, Jason Railton.
Crestron control is used throughout the project Campus Crossroads, integrated with your touch screens and the University of Notre Dame interface, so that users can customize the space easily and quickly.
Crestron DigitalMedia is used within classrooms, teaching laboratories, conference rooms and tutoring areas to distribute content and provide a more immersive learning experience. Besides, Each building has unique spaces for students, the faculty and the guests interact, celebrate and organize events on campus.
The Office of Information Technology has been transforming traditional classrooms into active learning spaces, completely changing the way students and faculty interact within the classroom.
The technological backbone of these learning environments is DM NVX from Crestron, that allows students and teachers to share content collaboratively. This is what Jason Railton points out: “Crestron NVX has not only been an optimal solution for our active learning classrooms, but it has allowed my team to design and deploy our basic standards for these dynamic spaces”.
To equip the new conference rooms, the university has adopted the Crestron Flex platform as part of its core audiovisual standards, meeting the requirements of those responsible for Notre Dame to deploy an easy-to-use solution, intuitive, reliable and natively integrated with your video conferencing platform.
“One of the most recent additions to our core standards is the Crestron Flex line,” adds Railton.. When we change our video conferencing platform, We needed a hardware solution that would provide us with a consistent user experience and exceptional audio and image quality., and Crestron Flex does just that”.
Since the project started Campus Crossroads, Railton and his ND Studios AV Technologies team have redesigned more than 175 classrooms across campus powered by Crestron using the same core standards, “with a consistent and seamless user experience”, which currently continues to expand to other spaces on the university campus.
