Located in New York, el Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) has been one of the city's leading educational centers for more than 60 years. Its campus offers a wide variety of spaces, including laboratories, smaller conference rooms and classrooms. All of them have been designed to improve the learning experience.

The HVCC IT infrastructure was managed by two different systems, one centered on a computer network and the other, that of the teachers. An infrastructure that lacked standardization and unification, since there were no two rooms that had the same technology. As a result, the IT team was receiving a constant stream of complaints ranging from audio distortion to image clarity, even failures in the projectors.

To respond to all these challenges, HVCC set out to find a comprehensive solution that would standardize the user experience for faculty and students across campus, and thus create a more productive learning environment.

The IT team turned to Crestron to centralize support and standardize all academic technologies to provide a consistent look and user experience across your academic spaces.

Con el software AV Framework, the team has been able to design a room standard and replicate it and implement it in 260 spaces throughout the campus. They were also able to reuse some of their existing Crestron systems and upgrade them, instead of having to start from scratch or do any additional programming.

With standardization across campus, The number of help desk calls has been significantly reduced across campus, and the team is able to solve the problems.

A DigitalMedia presentation system (DMPS) and a Crestron touchscreen display provide faculty and students with the ultra-high-definition presentation capabilities and room control they need in every learning space.

Crestron DMPS integrates video signal distribution, audio and control in a compact device. Simple touch screen interface ensures room technology is a useful tool, instead of a challenge to solve.

“Crestron DMPS and touchscreen solutions have helped eliminate wasted instructional time in our classrooms, especially in cases that were the result of technological failures”, explains Jonathan Brennan, HVCC Chief Information Officer.

After the results obtained, IT team has deployed other Crestron solutions on campus, such as high-performance DM NVX AV-over-IP technology, located in its new manufacturing building to instantly and flexibly route 4K video to displays; and DM NVX Director, which is used to manage the network of DM NVX devices within the building.

Crestron has helped HVCC centralize classroom support while modernizing academic technologies for its teachers and students..
