Ocean Park Hong Kong updates its lighting with Elation moving heads

The moving heads of Elation SixPar Z19 IP and Proteus Hybrid have been used to modernize the lighting of the entrance area and the multimedia shows of the Ocean Park Hong Kong.

From the hand of MPHK Group y Elation Professional, Ocean Park Hong Kong has incorporated new dynamic lighting into its facilities. These affect its emblematic main entrance, as well as its multimedia shows 'Gala of Lights'. The show and the lighting improvements throughout the park were designed by the multimedia studio Moment Factory.

Located in the southern district of Hong Kong, Ocean Park is an oceanographic, an animal center and theme park, all in one. With more than four decades, this facility fuses entertainment with conservation advocacy and education. It is one of the oldest recreational parks and tourist attractions in the city.

The attraction of this water park begins at the entrance itself. And this is why the marquee arch of this area attracts visitors with lighting effects produced by ten LED moving heads. Proteus Maximus. Equipment with IP65 classification that offers 50.000 lumens of power and are used to spread color and pattern across the entrance plaza, while the powerful beams cut through ambient light to help create excitement and foreshadow the emotions that await deeper within.

The ticket office areas, coral alley, the promenade and the town are bathed in color by 157 SixPar Z19 IP luminaires, six-color zoomable PAR lights with IP65 rating.

Based in Hong Kong, entertainment technology specialists MPHK Group supplied Elation equipment to contractor BYME Engineering for main entrance lighting upgrade.

Great Aquarium and Lagoon Aqua City

The Great Aquarium, one of the most emblematic attractions of Ocean Park, and the Aqua City Lagoon, located right next to, host the 'Gala of Lights', the multimedia night show of 360 degrees that excites visitors in an immersive multi-sensory experience.

“We wanted to enhance the existing architecture at Aqua City by illuminating the areas surrounding the lagoon and encouraging visitors to stay and experience the new nighttime offerings.”, explain Timothy Ng, Ocean Park Hong Kong CEO of Operations and Entertainment.

'Gala of Lights' features two immersive multimedia shows: ‘Soul of the Ocean’, that celebrates nature in all its extension, y ‘Visions of Hong Kong’, taking audiences on an inspiring journey through the city and beyond.

MPHK supplied Elation lighting, together with that of its sister company Acclaim, to the contractor ArcSource for the installation of the Laguna area. Nails 48 moving heads Proteus Hybrid beam/spot/wash mounted on light poles, around the lagoon area, They serve both aesthetic and functional purposes; while 8 Proteus Hybrid luminaires operate from the Aquarium roof.

The products Acclaim include 56 linear LED luminaires Aqua Graze y 8 wash luminaires Aqua Drum HO, that have been set up on stage. Some 140 Yards of Acclaim Flex Tape trace a color contour from the edge of the stage.

The lighting covers a large surface area and, from their positions on the roof and on the poles, provides multiple scanning beams. “It was necessary to integrate technology into the architecture in the most fluid way possible”, comment Timothy Ng.

Thanks to its ability to position itself at will and project itself in practically any direction, Proteus Hybrids can be used as eye-catching spotlights one moment and show lights the next.

“We wanted the lights to offer a variety of effects to support all show formats, including dynamic lighting and front lighting for artists”, concluded Timothy Ng.
