The insurer Plico installs the Biamp acoustic masking system
To reduce noise in your new office space, those responsible for Package have installed the QtPro sound masking system from Biamp, composed of AudioVisual Design.
The professional civil liability insurer Package, based in Oklahoma City, hired Elliott + Associates Architects to design your new office space, located in the New York version of Flatiron Building, in which an aesthetic of modern design and natural light is combined with respect for the history of one of the most unique buildings in this city.
Although the design did not include cubicles, The walls are made of a transparent polycarbonate material that helps protect visual privacy, while allowing the entry of natural light. Besides, a space was created 60 cm. between the top of the walls and the open ceiling to provide a more open feel.
Elliott + Associates Architects collaborated with Rob Rogers, technological integrator of AudioVisual Design (AVD) to guarantee the acoustic privacy in the offices, who recommended the installation of a sound masking system before completion of construction to help mitigate anticipated problems.
Plico agreed with this proposal and decided to incorporate the system of QtPro sound masking of Biamp, whose products are available in Spain through the network of integrators of GRANDFATHER Vision.
As he assures Brook Barnett, office manager in parcel, “The acoustic masking system makes the conversation level fade into the background and you won't notice it. We love our new office”.
Acoustic masking is the process of adding discrete background noise to an environment, through ceiling-mounted speakers, used to cover excess speech noise.
AVD installed small emitters (speakers), barely visible, in all open ceiling areas of the space, connected by cables to an intuitive Qt control module 300 mounted in the server room. These emitters are small enough to be easily placed in enclosures similar to those that house some of the luminaires..
“Incorporating the emitters into the design was easy - he assures Bill Yen, by Elliott + Associates-. I have worked with Rob Rogers from AVD for a long time, and he knows how to integrate technology, including sound masking, in our designs without problems”.
The new Plico office meets the demands of its managers both in form and function. Employees can now focus without distractions from the noise of conversations., holding meetings in their private offices and conference rooms without fear of being overheard.
Besides, The small size of the emitters ensured that the elegant industrial interior design was not affected. Acoustic masking even helped mask some nearby road noises.
