Boise Downstream and Scalable University

The association of Downstream and Scalable Display has materialized in a recent interactive project in the Boise State University (Idaho – USA), with the integration of eight projectors with eighteen glass panel systems, to create a 270º experience.

Reference in the development and management of digital environments and public spaces to promote the brand experience, Downstream has created a global community of content designers, Developers, production managers and other creatives from their offices in the United States, Amsterdam (Holland) and Melbourne (Australia).

This is explained by its technical director, Trent Hays: "Downstream has a unique position. We are a little different from a typical AV consultant because we create content, we build the story and provide custom software development; we put the content on the screen, which creates another level of complexity and we see the project to the end, with design strategies, brand environments and immersive experiences for our customers".

Precisely to respond to these projects with advanced technology, the company has partnered with Scalable Display, "with which we are in the midst of a few fascinating and unique projects in which its technology plays a fundamental role", adds Hays.

A differential of Scalable's technology is precisely its combination of higher pixel performance with a fast calibration and no problems. Innovative software automatically adjusts color, the intensity and geometry of images on multiple projectors, resulting in a single seamless digital display.

Scalable's proprietary technology was developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) by Rajeev Surati and. Tom Knight. The company has acquired twelve patents related to edge mixing technology, deformation and color calibration.
