Digital Projection y Display Devices crean arte en un icónico edificio de Denver
With a total of 210.000 lumens, provided by 10 M-Vision projectors Digital Projection, the torre Daniels & Fisher of Denver offers a permanent visual experience, known as Night Lights Denver. A space where innovative works by local and international artists are displayed.
Digital Projection y Display Devices have created one of the most distinctive permanent attractions in the city of Denver. This work of art based on light, It takes place in the iconic tower of Daniels & Fisher under the name of Night Lights Denver.
The historic American city of Denver (also called Mile High City) It has a rich history and cultural development. What began as a small town during the gold rush era, now boasts the 10th largest downtown in the United States, the largest urban park system in the country, five professional sports stadiums and the second largest performing arts complex in the country.
But, even with its status as a major metropolis, the Mile High City has always tried to maintain a balance between population, urban beauty and ecological impact. That's why, when the Denver Theater District (Denver Theatre District ) planned to add a video mapping solution to one of its iconic buildings, while complying with strict city ordinances, Digital Projection and Display Devices joined forces to offer a visual experience unlike anything the city had seen up to that point..
In downtown Denver there is an area of 16 blocks known as the Theater District. A lively and pedestrian place, focal point for the city, which is characterized by its art shows and interactive events, immersive and experimental. As a rule, whenever a company wants to add an advertisement, It must also provide an investment to improve the visual experience of the district.
When Orange Barrel Media began planning the use of the building called Daniels & Fisher Tower for one of its projects, sought a team to design a solution that would be visually stunning and that won't damage a hundred-plus-year-old building. After a thorough investigation, selected Digital Projection (DP) y Display Devices (DDI) to tackle the project.
Create art from static structures
The Daniels Building & Fisher stands up 99 meters high in the center of the Theater District, in the middle of 16th Street Mall, between the lower and upper part of the city center. with a square, This busy location is a prime location for Denver and is perfect for a projection mapping solution.
David Schmitt, Director of Sales and Business Development at Display Devices, describe this project: “Every time you work on a building of architectural and historical importance, the feeling is incredible, and with videomapping a little magic is done. Constantly evolving art is created from beautiful but static structures. Digital Projection makes some incredible projectors, and Display Devices is excellent at making permanent display installations; There is a very natural synergy between the two.. This natural synergy allows for intuitive, high-caliber cooperation that gives rise to exhibitions like this one.”.
Transformation through light
The DDI and DP team began to design a solution in a parking lot located in front of the plaza, as a technical base of operations. The end result was an environmentally controlled structure that housed 10 projectors M-Vision of 21.000 Digital Projection Lumens. Designed to withstand Denver's harshest weather conditions, the structure, simple but high tech, allows the city team to work inside to make adjustments and calibrations, as well as schedule and display content remotely.
With a total of 210.000 lumens of rich color content, Torre Daniels & Fisher was transformed into a work of art based on light. Now known as Night Lights Denver. The exhibition is a continuous visual experience showcasing innovative works by local and international artists. This permanent and ongoing event features new content every month, with rotating art collections including professional photography, animation, live action video and civic messages.
With nightly shows from Tuesday to Sunday, Night Lights Denver has become one of Denver's most significant attractions.
“This is not a billboard., It is cultural enrichment through art and entertainment. I always say that we are not public art, but art in the public”, explains David Moke, programming director.
David Ehrlich, executive director of the Denver Theater District, echoes this sentiment by saying that Night Lights Denver has become “the perfect way to expand our connection to the art world in the city at all levels.”. We call it the people's projector because of the enormous amount of content we share with the entire city through a platform that can be used by practically all types of artists”
