Powersoft at Roxy Ball Room

At The Roxy Leisure in Birmingham an audio system has been designed that gives consistent coverage to the entire venue. For this purpose, speakers have been used Turbosound, Amplifiers Powersoft and venues Audac.

The Italian manufacturer Powersoft has supported the Leeds-based integrator, Audioserv, to create an audio system for Roxy Ball Room, the bowling alley of Roxy Leisure in Birmingham (United Kingdom).

The American-style venue houses a ten-track bowling alley, which also includes a bar, a place that creates a vibrant experience with the help of a modern audio system.

Audioserv, which has also provided audio systems for more than 15 premises of this firm, was responsible for providing and installing the equipment with the support of Powersoft's audio distributor, Cuk.

“We have worked with Roxy Ball Room since the brand's inception in 2013”, Explains Pete Rollinson, Technical Director of Audioserv. “For the Birmingham venue, we design a system to give a consistent coverage throughout the space, with an added impact on certain areas of the premises, as we did for the other stores in the chain”.

To create a system capable of meeting these requirements, Audioserv, along with Matt Jones, by Roxy Leisure, designed a high-quality sound system that had the ability to sound like a club system when needed, but that could also provide background music. The system was created using Turbosound speakers, Powersoft amplifiers and Audac enclosures.

To create a directional sound system from the back and top of the bowling alley to the end of the tracks, the placement of the equipment was studied.

Mounted horizontally on the rear wall of the upper floor of the premises, five loudspeakers Turbosound TSC122 are paired with two subwoofers NuQ118B. “It would have been tempting to use smaller boxes, But they would have started to sound little in such a large space.”, explains Rollinson. Ten Turbosound speakers have been mounted above the bar NuQ82 to cover this area, and another five TSC122 and two NuQ118B subwoofers to cover the area between the bar and the bowling alleys.

To support this team, Audioserv selected 3 fixed installation amplifiers Quattrocanali 4804 and 2404 from Powersoft.

“We have supplied amplifiers from the Powersoft installation range to Roxy Ball Room in different projects before, as well as other customers. They have excellent sound, They are extremely small physically and their energy consumption is very low”, clarifies Rollinson.

The Quattrocanali series has been designed with small and medium-sized installation projects in mind. Can work with distributed lines Lo-Z (from 2 Ω) and 70V/100V, or any mixture of both, and has SRM technology (Smart Rails Management), maximizing system efficiency and drastically reducing energy consumption.

It also offers lower thermal dissipation, minimizing the need for external cooling systems. Quattrocanali 4804 features the legendary Powersoft switched power supply, tolerating up to 400VAC with power factor correction.
