KV2 Audio provides the sound to represent the musical 'Cats’ in stadiums
The European tour of this award-winning musical, which is now performed in stadiums, has had the technology of KV2 Audio to solve the sonic complexities of this production.
Cats, the musical of Andrew Lloyd Webber who has broken records on stage, has embarked on a large-scale international tour throughout Europe, which on this occasion leaves the traditional theaters to be performed in much larger venues, like stadiums, which poses challenges to sound designers who wish to reproduce the sonic complexities and details of the work.
With audio production supplied by Autograph Sound, the sound designer Greg Pink has turned to the speakers of KV2 Audio to carry out the tour. “As a musical designer for over thirty years I have used PAs from many different manufacturers, but the KV2 Audio range is unbeatable -he says-. Whether you use their systems in a small theater or a large stage, like now, They do their job with phenomenal clarity and coverage. “The dynamic range of the system allows us to use it higher without risk of distortion.”.
The range needed in these KV2 Audio enclosures can reach up to 100 metros, “something we can easily achieve with just six VHD2.0 and twelve subwoofers VHD4.18 -Pink adds.. All VHD2.0 are blown, so for the audience sitting in front of the stage, consistent coverage is achieved with just a pair of ESR215 and four EX26“.
Jins Drough, sound manager on the European tour Cats, points out the playback quality and intelligibility of KV2 systems: “from the moment you turn it on and play music, you know you're looking at something special. I can ensure that every word of the show is heard clearly in every seat in the auditorium, even in huge venues, where a band can sound intimate and distant one moment and instantly switch to more in-your-face rock the next, without losing detail at any time”.
He sistema VHD used in shows Cats in stadiums offers something that seems simply impossible when you look at its size. “We offer high quality sound in every seat, with only six speakers in the air and a lot of free space and it is, with difference, the best system I have ever mixed with”, subraya Drieghe.
After the performance carried out in the Spectrum Arena they Trondheim (Norway), Pendabede Stally, director and commercial director of Nick Grace Management, producers of Cats, noted that “the audio system for this stadium tour is so extraordinarily clear that, although I am not a sound professional, I really noticed the difference”.
