University of Wisconsin–Madison Expands Digital Signage Infrastructure with Visix
The IT department has centralized the digital signage system of this university with the implementation of the solution Visix AxisTV in other areas of the campus.
Cloud-based software Visix It is the option chosen by many educational centers to centralize and simplify the way in which the digital signage infrastructure is managed on campus. This is the case of the University of Wisconsin, where AxisTV Signage Suite is used to optimize this infrastructure in various departments.
The results obtained in several downtown locations have led to the Visix platform being brought to other iconic high-traffic buildings managed by Wisconsin Union.
The Memorial Union and Union South buildings serve as learning spaces outside the classroom, as well as for tourist destinations, conference and event centers. The versatility of AxisTV Signage Suite enables digital media solutions that meet the challenges posed by these buildings.
Collaborating with the Wisconsin Union team to implement the software also helped establish best practices and standards in the use of the digital signage system on several college campuses..
Wisconsin Union's digital signage network offers 15 dynamic content channels in 41 screens, located at both this location and Union South. Signage spans multiple floors and provides visitors with up-to-date transportation schedules; theater performance events, conferences, cinema and music.
Jason Powers, Wisconsin Union organizational strategist, and the UW-Madison IT team worked closely with Visix to implement the software, determine the locations of screens and media players, in addition to adapting software workflows to 15 information channels.
In addition, The Visix team also developed multiple screen layouts with data mapping for custom event management feeds, RSS y XML dentro del software AxisTV Signage Suite, ensuring content consistently flows to the correct screens.
“The University of Wisconsin-Madison has always been self-sufficient with digital signage, from creating content to setting up channels and setting up media players”, explains Alan Harper, executive account manager AVI Systems, a systems design and integration firm that consulted on the Wisconsin Union project. “Visix manages data sets for all departments, either by leveraging the event management system (EMS) to extract room scheduling information and RSS feeds from custom scripts”.
Visix also worked closely with Powers and Wisconsin Union's marketing and communications teams to establish visual and brand unity across their 41 screens.
“Content is customized with our colors and brands on seven floors of Memorial Union and four floors of Union South”, comenta Powers. "At the same time, We have a variety of niche systems in both buildings that require careful planning as to how we convey information to each audience. Visix makes it very easy for our marketing department to update marketing content and designs, and disseminate new information aimed at specific screens”.
