Gopher Athletics update Huntington Bank Stadium with seven Daktronics screens
Improving the west marker area, with its auxiliary screens, along with the panels that make up a large ribbon, the marquee and the club, combine to create almost 885 square meters of digital canvas with technology Daktronics.
Daktronics continues its long association with the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis installing seven LED screens in the Huntington Bank Stadium, the home of the Gopher.
The improvement of the area of marker west and auxiliary screens, together with the panels forming a large ribbon, a marquee and a club screen, combine to create almost 885 square meters of enhanced digital canvas, with higher resolution and screen brightness available to the University for football games and other special events held at the stadium.
Mike Wierzbicki, Associate Director of Athletics, comments that “we are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve our fans' experience in the stadium. With this project, we can add next-generation improvements and replace technology that is going to expire. These additions will benefit everyone at the stadium, and we are excited to partner with industry leader Daktronics on this initiative. We know our fans will enjoy these added benefits when we start the season at the end of August”.
The main center of attention in the west area is an improved LED video screen that measures approximately 14,3 meters high by 32,6 wide. In the opposite area of the field of play, the auxiliary will be expanded to almost 9 meters high by 15 meters wide.
Both screens will have a pixel spacing of 10 millimeters to deliver all the action-packed replays and live video Gopher football fans expect in a game. They will also use variable content zoning capabilities to share any combination of statistics and match information, graphics and animations and sponsorship messages with fans throughout the stadium.

This upcoming season will be exciting as we debut the new displays and I can't wait to see them in action on game day.”
Three ribbon-shaped LED screens will adorn the stalls and offer fans complementary statistics., information about matches and messages. The main ones of the north and south bands will have a pixel spacing of 15 millimeters, will measure 1 meter high by 97 meters wide, while the main west background area will add a lower LED ribbon with a pixel spacing of 10 millimeters and will measure almost 1,5 meters high by 32 meters wide.
Inside the Cambria club's stadium, a display with close pixel spacing 1,9 millimeters will attract and entertain fans. With dimensions of almost 2,5 meters high by 9 meters wide, this display will attract and entertain fans, while providing them with an up-close visual experience of the live action on the pitch.
To welcome fans to Huntington Bank Stadium, a marquee screen of almost 3,6 meters wide by 14 meters high. With a pixel spacing of 15 millimeters, will display the Minnesota brand, upcoming events and other messages needed by the University.
