Nexo teams provide sound at the Catalans Dragons stadium
The compact scalable speaker Nexus GEO S12 has been the solution chosen to install in the Gilbert Brutus stadium.
The Gilbert Brutus stadium in Perpignan, home of the french rugby league team the Catalans Dragons, has 3 stands and has capacity for up to about 13.000 spectators. This is the second stadium in the area that relies on Nexo technology
The southern French city is also home to the USAP rugby team, whose home stadium, The Aimé Giral Stadium, is equipped with a sound system Nexo GEO S12, installed by local AV technology specialists Sud Media System. After the result achieved, it was decided to use this technology in the Gilbert Brutus.
Available in EN54 and long range versions, and in shallower or steeper cabinets to allow larger die angles, The compact two-way GEO S12 is a scalable speaker module featuring optimal MF-LF output (nominal sensitivity of 103dB SPL -1W at 1m) single LF driver 12 inch and directivity phase device (DPD) Nexo patented.
The hyperboloid reflective wave source (HRW) of Nexo allows coupled cabinets to radiate as coherent wavefronts, producing precise pattern control in vertical or horizontal arrangements.
The Gilbert Brutus Stadium system was designed by Nexo's engineering support team using the company's NS-1 system configuration software..
An intuitive drag-and-drop interface includes all Nexo systems with processed measured speaker data, along with complex mathematical data to predict SPL and delay coverage in 3 dimensions.
NS-1 combines comprehensive acoustic and mechanical calculations along with tools to optimize the design of curved vertical arrays. A Help section defines mechanical constraints to establish the safety of the flown system and generates reports on system dimensions, the weight, the position of the center of gravity, the forces, the moments, workload and safety factors.
The Bonzoms stand’ is covered by six groups of three GEO S12, complemented with 6 point source speakers Nexus P10 that cover the highest seats.
Six groups of four GEO S12s cover the West stand and another seven P10s cover the smaller stand., with amplification and processing, provided by network powered controllers NXAMPMk2 by Nexo.
Windy conditions in Perpignan required the Sud Media System team to manufacture and certify custom brackets to attach the new cabinet groups to the existing structures.
Members of Nexo's engineering support team visited the stadium to adjust and commission the new sound system, including Carole Marsaud. “It was good to work with the SMS team who completed a very clean installation at this second stadium in Perpignan. The sound was excellent in all stands and we achieved excellent results in both SPL and intelligibility”.
