E Ink Kalley 3 transforms sustainable traffic signage in Sydney
The installation of smart outdoor traffic signage, carried out by Mercury Innovation in Sydney (Australia), consists of twelve Kaleido digital screens 3 of E Ink, powered by solar energy and zero emissions.

The project, carried out in the Australian city of Sydney by Mercury Innovation, involves the use of Kaleido digital screens 3 of E Ink as zero emission smart transport signs, thanks to solar energy, to improve sidewalk management in a sustainable way.

E Ink Kalley 3 Outdoor is based on ePaper color printing technology , that uses a RGB color filter array on a black and white e-paper film to create a warm and colorful display.
The operating temperature range of these displays is between -15 °C y 65 °C, allowing it to operate in extremely cold or hot areas without the need for expensive, energy-intensive heating or cooling devices, which reduces consumption.
The reflective nature of E Ink Kaleido 3 It means that the brighter the sun, the better the image will look, and a simple front light provides illumination for night viewing.
Mercury Innovation has integrated 13.3 panels″ with its casing, solar software and infrastructure to implement smart transportation systems and digital signage in cities, helping to optimize everything from curbside management to real-time traffic information. At the moment, Its digital signage network covers more than four hundred screens.

The company compared the impact of ads on 32” paper, LCD and ePaper screens on carbon emissions for outdoor digital signage.
