Rochester Institute of Technology enters the world of Pixera
This North American educational institution has invested in the multimedia server platform Pixera oven BY Stumpfl for your new SHED creative center.
After studying different options, he Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) has opted for a multimedia server system BY Stumpfl Pixera four to support the configuration of content emission of the Led infrastructure.
Founded in 1829, This educational institution is famous for its multidisciplinary mix of technology, arts and design. This university offers a wide range of academic opportunities to its more than 19.000 students and more 135.000 graduates from 50 states and more 100 nations.
Recently, RIT has completed a construction project on its campus called SHED (Student Hall for Exploration and Development – Student Room for Exploration and Development). This new creative center will centralize the university's makerspace, as well as performing arts studios and theaters.
A notable visual aspect of the structure is the new marquesina Led Planar with resolution of 3,072×3.584 pixels, key component of the SHED celebration space, which was donated by RIT alumnus Austin McChord, who favors the experiential learning approach that defines many of RIT's acclaimed courses.
After studying different options for a next-generation media server system, that would support the content emission configuration of the Led tent, RIT chose a Stumpfl Pixera four AV server, ideal for demanding real-time graphics applications and XR/broadcast setups.
In addition to having a reputation for offering an intuitive user interface combined with a powerful rendering engine, this system of 64 bits for processing, Real-time media composition and management has also become very popular in the world of virtual productions..
Magic (Media, Arts, Games, Interaction & Creativity – Media, Artes, Games, Interaction and Creativity) is a university research and development laboratory and commercial production studio collaborating in efforts to bring digital media creations up to market and commercialization standards..
David Long, director of RIT's Magic Center comments on decision to invest in Pixera media server hardware.
“On a purely practical level, we have the technical requirements related to our new tent. Pixera fit, both in terms of feature versatility and overall return on investment. However, as we have many courses where our students would benefit from gaining hands-on experience with a high-end media server platform like Pixera, “Our interest goes beyond having a great emission system.”.
Long joined the faculty at RIT's School of Film and Animation in 2007, where he is also an associate professor of the film science program.
“We want our students to believe, collaborate and act together at the highest possible level. Pixera can serve as a bridge between our design courses, film production and engineering. Our plan is to gradually introduce it into the curriculum, so that our students from different disciplines are trained to turn their creative and technological ideas into a tangible reality.”
