Sharp shows its first ePoster with E Ink Spectra 6 and Igzo technology
The new ePoster of Sharp combines a backplane of its Igzo technology with the Spectra e-paper platform 6 of E Ink, offering an expanded color range, allowing for greater color saturation and contrast.
On the occasion of the technology exhibition Sharp Tech Day, which is celebrated from today until 12 November in Tokyo (Japan), The company shows its color e-paper display for the first time Emails, in A2 size, fruit of collaboration with E Ink, creator of the ePaper technology.
This new digital solution, ecological and sustainable incorporates the ePaper platform in color Spectra 6 by E Ink with a panel plan Igzo the Sharp, developed with the aim of improving visual communications in public spaces.
This is how he explains it Smot, president of sales and marketing of E Ink in Japan: “We are delighted to present the new ePoster, the first color e-paper display using our latest ePaper Spectra 6 and Sharp Igzo technology. This is a revolutionary innovation, with an elegant design and zero energy consumption that makes it an ecological and profitable solution. “We believe the ePoster will transform the way people communicate and display information in everyday environments.”.
Thanks to Spectra 6, the screen offers a wider range of colorsa compared to the previous platform, allowing content to be played with greater color saturation, contrast and vividness, with a high visibility.
Another of its differentials is that the screen has a zero watt power consumption. In addition to having an A2 size (420×594 mm), the international standard for printed paper posters, it is also thin and light, making it easier to replace conventional paper signs and install them in locations where previous electronic displays could not, due to its significant weight and the need for a power source.
This development of an A2 size model equipped with E Ink Spectra 6 It is the first in the world to date. Sharp's Igzo technology has made it possible to reduce the size of peripheral circuits and narrower bezel designs.
three years ago, Sharp Corporation and E Ink began collaborating with the goal of combining their strengths to contribute to the era of carbon neutrality by popularizing digital signage..
The potential of these digital signs has been confirmed through marketing activities, such as displaying prototypes at exhibitions, both in Japan and around the world. In April 2023, Sharp introduced its 42” monochrome ePoster digital paper display in the Japanese market.
In addition to having an energy consumption of 0 W during display, also uses reflected light from external sources to display the image, providing optimal visibility even in bright environments. Last March, both companies announced their collaboration to bring ePaper ePoster to the market, with the presentation of 25.3” and 13.3” equipment.
