Electro-Voice Helps Revitalize the Sound of Downtown Mansfield
More than one hundred compact Evid speakers from Electro-Voice have been installed in the new Mansfield leisure venues, as well as a dozen ceiling subwoofers and two CPS power amplifiers 8.5 of 4000 W.
As part of the revitalization of the downtown Mansfield in the southern suburbs of Dallas, Local construction businessman Tony Meehan bought an abandoned mill, which had also served as a local jail, and after a complete renovation, created two new businesses: a haute cuisine restaurant called Meehan’s Chophouse and a bar 1.524 square meters exclusive for members, he Henry’s Cigar Lounge. For the technological needs of new facilities, Meehan hired his partner Worth Fire & Security for design and installation, betting on Electro-Voice for the sound infrastructure.
“These two companies share a lot of infrastructure, including things like kitchen and parking”, points out Todd Privette, president of Worth Fire & Security. “They wanted to take advantage of that approach with their technology. We design an AV system that includes security cameras, audio and video systems, AV matrix control, in addition to data infrastructure and fire alarm”.
For the audio part, Worth Fire & Security focused on the solutions offered by Electro-Voice, focusing on the line Evid compact speakers (EV Innovative Design). With a wide range of models to adapt to various needs, They were the ideal option to provide consistent and cohesive sound in multiple indoor and outdoor areas..
The system designed by Worth Fire & Security offers background music on 12 zones, including the restaurant, the smoking room, several private dining rooms, bathrooms, outdoor patios and waiting areas.
“The reason we went with Electro-Voice was the Evid line, that includes everything, from in-wall and in-ceiling speakers to attractive pendant and recessed models, as well as subwoofers and weather-resistant versions”, Privette clarifies. “They have the flexibility to adapt to any room, They are easy to install and sound great”.
The selected Evid C6.2 recessed ceiling speaker as a base model for ambient music, con 90 of them distributed throughout the building. In areas requiring full range fidelity, These are complemented by Evid C10.1 ceiling subwoofers of 10 inches, with a total of ten strategically located units covering the Chophouse Bar, the main hall of Henry's, as well as private rooms and the outdoor patio of Henry's.
In the Grist Mill private dining room, which is also equipped with a complete video presentation system, audio is provided by six speakers Evid P6.2 pendant style hanging from your vaulted ceiling. Abroad, the speakers Evid-S8.2TB provide audio to waiting areas and parking.
The entire system is powered by two Electro-Voice CPS amplifiers 8.5, that provide 16 channels up to 500 watts each. The system uses 12 of those channels for independent audio zones of 70 volts, and the remaining four channels feed the subwoofers of 8 ohms. AV control including audio zones is done using touch panels and keyboards, with independent control for each business.
Meehan's Chophouse also has a small stage with its own sound system, mainly used for special occasions. Suitable for small musical groups or DJ events, the stage for live performances is equipped with a self-powered Electro-Voice sound system consisting of two ELX200-12P speakers.
