Sharp NEC projection provides a multi-sensory experience at the Cosmos Theater
A digital infrastructure has been installed in this Antalya establishment to offer customers the best immersive experience. To achieve this, they have been used 32 laser projectors Sharp NEC PX2000UL.
An immersive experience of 270 degrees has been created for the Cosmos Theatre with Sharp NEC laser projectors and videomapping techniques.
Combining digital and visual art, The Cosmos Theater is an innovative project that promises a new experience for customers: “a synthesis of art, gastronomy, entertainment and technology”. A place located next to the Nirvana Cosmopolitan hotel in Antalya (Türkiye), that hosts concerts, themed events and famous artists, local and foreign.
He Dinner Theatre aims to awaken the five senses through themed gastronomic events, where guests are entertained with stage performances and a immersive digital art experience.
During the pandemic, Kilit Hospitality Group, bought an area in Antalya to build a new five-star Nirvana hotel. The main hall of an existing convention center would be converted into an entertainment venue, designed both for staying clients and for tourists who eventually come.
The place must be multifunctional, capable of being used as a conventional theater or for banquet or bistro type events, or even completely flexible. The renovation of the building affected the entire infrastructure, from the heating, ventilation and air conditioning to stage mechanics and audiovisual systems.
In search of a quality result, The aim was to offer a great audiovisual experience, but using technology that remained discreet.
The design of the AV concept was carried out by the project consultant Fatih Osmancelebioglu, while the AV system was designed, supplied and installed by Time.
To create an immersive experience, a was needed visualization of 270 degrees, whereby performance areas and supporting digital content appear on all sides of the room except the floor and back wall, in front of the stage.
To achieve such a dramatic immersion, Atempo identified videomapping as the ideal solution, although achieving optimal brightness levels would be a challenge.
Acrobatic and musical performers would require a significant level of stage lighting, so the key was to illuminate the stage without affecting the dynamic images projected on the surrounding walls, in terms of brightness and contrast. It was calculated that a minimum projection brightness of 270 ANSI lumens per square meter.
Besides, The location of the projectors would be essential to generate the desired visual impact without causing physical or sound discomfort to the audience., taking into account that some would have to be placed at ground level.
The solution: PX projectors
Atempo selected the DLP projectors 20.000 ANSI lumens of the Sharp NEC PX Series, trusting in the high quality and reliability of the brand. RB laser technology uses red lasers, increasing color gamut to produce more vivid images. Sealed, filter-less optical system means dust cannot affect consistent light output, which guarantees great longevity and minimal maintenance, while reducing fan noise.
Thirty-two projection units NEC PX2000UL are discreetly placed in critical locations around the room using video mapping to create a visual experience of 270 degrees.
The projectors reach 284 ANSI lumens per square meter, above the desired brightness level, and its silent operation does not cause any disturbance to spectators sitting very close.
The entire internal surface of the enclosure is covered with a silver-colored acoustic fabric (PONGS) which provides a mapping area of 1.200 square meters, keeping the speakers out of sight but preserving sound quality, in addition to improving the visual quality of the projection.
The videomapping design recognizes the architectural limitations of the building and the requirements for flexible use of space, but offers the required WOW factor, generated through the combination of digital art and stage performance.
At gastronomic events, For example, where projection is used in all its magnificence, hay 44 dancers on stage simultaneously creating a visually captivating show.
Immersive and multisensory experience
This is Antalya's first dinner theater with immersive digital infrastructure to offer the best multisensory experience.
The special shows are very popular with locals and tourists who are attracted to the area to experience a unique show. The stage itself may not have unusual proportions, but the digital immersion that surrounds it makes it seem bigger than it is. Artists are interested in utilizing the unique technological capabilities that theater can offer.
There are “technology” shows, performance and gastronomy” that take place three times a week, and the rest of the availability is used for concerts, familiar sensory experiences, industry awards events, corporate presentations and more.
