Iowa PBS Solid State Logic

Esta red de transmisión pública del estado estadounidense ha integrado tres nuevas plataformas de mezcla de audio de System T S300 de Solid State Logic with Dante AoIP.

The public broadcasting network Iowa PBS, the largest in this American state, offers a wide variety of content, from sports, arts and entertainment to agriculture and politics and events.

In order to improve your audio system, Iowa PBS has integrated three T S300 Dante AoIP mixing consoles of Solid State Logic (SSL), located in the control room 3 from the study (with capacity for three hundred people), in the sala 1 and in the mobile unit from its headquarters in Johnston.

Iowa PBS Solid State LogicEach of these three control surfaces is combined with a motor TE2 Tempest Engine de SSL, that admits 256 processing routes and integrates with various network I/O interfaces SuperAnalogue and stage boxes.

As pointed out David Feingold, Iowa PBS Audio Engineer, This integration “is the first step towards a Wider Dante AoIP Deployment in the facilities. It is the first time we use Dante and we are going to expand, which is really good”.

The three new T S300 consoles have replaced the same number of digital desktops C100 HD, also SSL, that the company had been using for the last sixteen years and that had to be modernized.

“The C100s have served us a lot,” says Feingold., but we were ready to use the latest technology integrated into the System T platform. SSL produces consoles that sound fantastic and are very durable, and provides good support service”.

Iowa PBS Solid State LogicThe operational ergonomics of this platform is a step forward for audio operators de Iowa PBS: “it's a much simpler tactile experience than C100. I really like touch screen interfaces, but it also has familiar features that allow engineers to continue using their established workflows.”.

These new equipment also integrate more functions that improve the activity of professionals, like him control DAW advanced, the chain connection or its perfect compatibility with Pro Tools, among others.

The control rooms 1 y 3 are networked through Dante. “They are two different systems, but they share the same I/O throughout the building, what makes us versatile. Besides, we can share the same sources”, Feingold adds..
