Vinik Sports Group (VSG), that operates the Amalie Arena, began thinking about upgrading the sound system at his facility. 204.216 square meters.
“Our legacy audio system, which was in operation for more than 15 years, “It was at the end of its useful life.”, comment Andrew McIntyre, Senior Vice President of Technology and Innovation at VSG. “I didn't have the ability to reach the seats on the upper level of the stadium and we had no intelligibility. We had a lot of great messages., from our video content to our video highlights and our in-stadium microphones, that we wanted to make sure that people could listen and participate, but there were no bass in the entire stadium”.
Intrigued by the capabilities of Meyer Sound's Panther large-format line array loudspeakers, the VSG team visited the first permanent facility, one el Xcel Energy Center one St. Paul, Minnesota. “We look at its design, sound quality, the coverage and overall impact of the solution. “That was the deciding factor.”, McIntyre adds..
The new system is made up of 96 Panther speakers in two horn variants, backed by 14 Leopard compact line array loudspeakers, 20 elements of 2100‑LFC low frequency control y 19 Ultra‑X40 compact speakers . The systems are managed by the platforms red Galileo Galaxy 816 y 408 and are configured in a Milan/Dante hybrid network.
For the VSG team, Panther's superior clarity and coverage is a game-changer in enhancing fan experience and programming opportunities. “Before the new system was implemented, Complaints of 'I can't hear' were heard’ the ‘it’s too loud’”, McIntyre says.. "Now, we have eliminated all that effectively. We have improved the clarity of our messages”.
The 2100-LFC delivers deep, defined bass throughout the stadium. “We have the ability to immerse people in sound and do it differently”, explica McIntyre. “It doesn't have to be just strong; It may actually be more robust”.
Now fans enjoy a quality sound experience in every seat. “We wanted to make sure our fans could enjoy the same experience, whether they sit in the glass or in the back row”, afirma Stephen Frey, VSG game presentation director. “This speaker system has achieved that”.
The Amalie Arena team hopes to take advantage of the new system's improved sound capabilities to create new event content. They recently incorporated the Spacemap Go spatial sound mixing and design tool from Meyer Sound and are experimenting with surround audio.
“What a new sound system did for us is it allowed us to elevate the value proposition of your Lightning game ticket.”, afirma John Franzone, Senior Vice President of Game Presentation at VSG. “Y, by extension, the other events we have here at Amalie Arena that make use of this sound system, "It suddenly becomes a very powerful and nice little weapon to have when you're in the event entertainment industry.".
