Kgear brings its sound to a leisure venue in the heart of Nice
In the premises located in the old Gare du Sud train station, Mediterranean, six Kgear GH4 units have been installed, brand of K-array, in a matrix group, with three floor-stacked GH18 subwoofers for low-frequency reinforcement.
Mediterranean, a celebration of Mediterranean cuisine and culture in the heart of Nice, It is located within the walls of the former Gare du Sud train station. The space, a long hall with high vaulted ceilings with iron arches, It consists of a ground floor and a mezzanine. The installation of an audio system in this leisure space has been a process that has been carried out in two parts due to the evolution of the space., with the Kgear speakers at the center of history.
The local integrator was hired, EnvySoul, to be responsible for the design and integration of the audio system, provided by local distributor, Aeitech.
At first, the system is used for background audio only. “As we had already implemented Kgear products in previous projects, “We knew the GH4 was a small and versatile solution”, explains Rudy Roden by Envy Soul. “The power and audio quality are fantastic, and the format allows for perfect integration. The ability to integrate the speakers in pairs to achieve a stereo configuration was also ideal”.
During the first phase, The audio system was installed in a classic restaurant format in a left-right stereo configuration to allow for subtle background audio coverage throughout the space.. Shortly after initial installation, the venue began to celebrate cultural and musical events, although I was still using the original system. Due to the distribution, the system design was no longer suitable. Therefore, acoustic specialists from Cf Audio that will evaluate and reconfigure the system design.
“With the evolution of the events that were held in the Mediterranean, “I visited the site to study the current acoustic situation and design a system that would better serve the multifunctional use of the venue.”, remember Claudio Fabiani, Cf Audio sound designer. “All the materials were there., So it was a case of redoing the audio design to fit the new scope.".
The upgrade required an audio system for the stage and dance floor, plus remove background audio settings. Cf Audio implemented six units GH4 in a matrix group, with three subwoofers GH18 stacked on the floor for low frequency reinforcement. Four GH4 delays were placed in the bar area to provide constant coverage, while two more are used as front filler. Finally, three units were installed in the DJ booth. The system is powered by the amplifiers of the GA series by Kgear.
“To contain the audio within the space of the dance floor, we install acoustic reinforcements 300 mm thickness on the walls”, Fabiani continues. “This was an important addition as it helps contain energy and prevent noise pollution in the surrounding built residential area”.
“GH4 is a versatile option that allows us to enjoy K-array technology at an affordable price”, Rodenas continues. “Working with the acoustic designers at Cf Audio we were able to plan and implement a system that can deliver the experience of a party without causing noise complaints., all while using existing products, a testament to the flexibility of the GH series”.
