AV Stumpfl manages the futuristic work of the Schauspielhaus Graz theater with Pixera
The media server Pixera of BY Stumpfl provides maximum control for 'Sonne/Luft' work, whose installation has transformed this Austrian theater into a futuristic spaceship where video management is a key element.
Sun/air (Solar), the last work of the playwright and Nobel Prize winner Elfriede Jelinek, has transformed Austrian theater Graz Theater inside a spaceship, with a futuristic video montage managed by the media server Pixera of BY Stumpfl, to the processing, Real-time media composition and management.
In collaboration with the director Emre Akal and visual artists Mehmet & Kazim, inspired by hip hop, Jelinek creates an almost entirely digital sci-fi world that transcends the analog reality of the stage, in which he imagines the remains of humanity, crammed aboard a spaceship and controlled by a mysterious and omnipresent artificial intelligence, looking towards what once was the Earth.
For the assembly of this work, the media technician Gerald Rotter uses Pixera Server to simplify and manage the complex AVL requirements of Sun/air and create your disturbing dystopian future.
“Sun/air It was a project that excited me because it allowed me to experiment a lot -explains Rotter-. To create the spaceship cockpit, cWe combine front projection and multiple screens with a rotating physical stage, as well as projecting video content separately onto the stage background. The mapping was a bit complicated and had to be redone for each representation, since the assembly was never the same”.
Rotter used Pixera to manage inputs and outputs (four in each), in combination with Videohub 20 video matrices×20 of Blackmagic Design; two projectors Panasonic installed on lighting towers, on both sides of the stage, and a lighting console grandMA2 of MA Lighting.
“We also use Pixera software for routing, as well as Companion for Videohubs, y Panasonic Geometry Manager for projector configuration”, Rotter points out..
To Sun/air, Rotter made free use of the Pixera control feature, as he himself explains: “At first I focused entirely on composition, and then control gave life to everything, since it is brilliantly developed. I created several timelines for simplify workflow, and I also let this function will manage the projectors and sound”.
Also, positively value the support offered by the Austrian AV Stumpfl team., in particular of Harry Gladow, CEO of Pixera, Rotter assures that this media platform is essential for the show, “it's a brilliant system, packed with fantastic features. Literally, “It makes my life easier”.
