Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Theater creates two new spaces with Digico

Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Theater (GOH) has launched two new spaces in this venue built in 1953: the Hung Sin-nui Theater (equipped with a console Digico SD5) y el Red Bean Hall (smaller, equipped with a Quantum 338).

The building is located in Yuexiu district, in Guangzhou city, and has a total area of ​​about 40.000 square meters, which include a Grand Theater of 1.200 locations, a theater of 500 locations and three movie theaters 60 locations.

In recent years, Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Theater (GOH) has made artistic innovations based on science and technology, and has cooperated with various manufacturers to explore the construction of the “5G Smart Theater”. There have been more than 300 online performances and activities using 5G technology, virtual reality and augmented reality, bringing this ancient art form to a modern audience. GOH hosted the inaugural event of the Chinese Culture Festival from June to October 2024 y, in the future, will continue to strive to be the representation of Chinese culture to rank among the world's first-class theaters.

The DiGiCo distributor in China, RACPRO, installed the SD5 at the Hung Sin-nui Theater. This space was built in honor of the famous Cantonese opera artist Hung Sin-nui who, in 2009, was awarded the first Lifetime Achievement Award in Chinese Opera.

The SD5 is equipped with 37 physical faders on the surface of the console and three high resolution LCD touch screens 15", which can display information such as profit, processing and equalization 253 canales. Located in the control cabin, at the back of the stalls, The DiGiCo SD5's low profile ensures good sight lines and the larger mixing surface allows easy access to all channels.

Red Bean Hall

In the Red Bean Room (Red Bean Hall), the audio team chose to install the DiGiCo Quantum 338 as main mixing console, also located in a booth at the back of the stalls. La Quantum 338 has 128 input channels and 64 departure buses. Provides additional channel processing for main and matrix output, providing more powerful processing capabilities and extremely flexible workflows. GOH believes that the choice of Quantum 338 for the Red Bean Hall will encourage the development of the performing arts in a more refined and systematic way.

GOH's investment in artists includes the development of artistic training courses, the first children's choir affiliated with a theater, the first children's ballet group, the first youth music band and the first youth string orchestra, all of them with a high professional level. It has also created the unique “Classroom × Stage” art training mode to cultivate artistic talents., training more than 19.079 young artists and building the «Arts Boost», a platform for exchange and learning of artistic management professionals to guarantee a solid pool of future talents.
