Pure AV London Metropolitan University

The Faculty of Human Sciences of this university in the United Kingdom has advanced audiovisual equipment, designed and integrated by Pure OFF, for your new healthcare training and simulation skills center.

Recognized as one of the top ten universities in the United Kingdom for its quality of teaching and student experience, the London Metropolitan University (London MET), located in the center of the capital, continually invests in modern and advanced educational facilities.

Proof of this has been the opening of the Faculty of Human Sciences with an ambitious goal: create an installation capable of set a standard in health education, not just within the UK, but globally, through a series of carefully planned studies and simulation based environments.

As a long-standing technology partner of London Metropolitan University, Pure OFF worked closely with other companies to introduce new and emerging technologies to their managers, provide them with technical advice and ensure that solutions were implemented to the highest standards.

The first stages of the project began with a series of meetings between Pure AV and those responsible for the university to design and configure each space, the objectives, available budgets and deadlines for completion, which gave way to collaboration with other suppliers to ensure that any proposed technology would adapt to established specifications and expectations.

Given the size and complexity of the project, The Pure AV team decided that it was necessary to appoint a dedicated director to oversee key stages like the first and second repair; system programming; commissioning and installation of all installed AV systems.

As he assures Mark Bardouille, head of IT operations at London Metropolitan University, “Pure AV fully understands our requirements. “They have been working closely with us for several years and bring a wealth of experience to ensure a seamless collaboration.”.

Simulation for learning

In this project, the medical simulation plays a vital role in London Metropolitan University's health education and training strategy, for which a space has been created that recreates different clinical settingss in which students participate in hyperrealistic learning scenarios.

Inside this simulation space, a large format screen Clevertouch, with a size of 86”, is located at the front of the room to provide interactivity to the students, in addition to having improved connectivity and a control Panel AMX to share content quickly and easily, as well as manage the input of all AV equipment.

At the core of this space is Dirt, a custom system designed specifically for medical observation and training record. A network of cameras, speakers and stage control allows you to capture video sequences, audio recordings and readings of critical vital signs.

All content in the Smots system is reviewed within the Telehealth environment, a space carefully designed by those responsible for the university to promote learning, collaboration and debate, both individually and in groups. Teachers can use these recordings to review content with students.

Flexible space

Specifically, The Telehealth room has a fully integrated music stand and with custom AMX control, located on the front, offers easy management of installed systems from a single station.

Las cameras AVer ceiling mounted, along with hanging speakers LLC and the microphones Sennheiser TeamConnect 2 They guarantee wide coverage of the entire room, with a optimal audio quality superior to capture every detail clearly.

A series of digital screens from the manufacturer Sony They are strategically located throughout the space to guarantee optimal visibility for students, whether they are in person or from a remote location.

The room adaptability Telehealth is another of its main features, designed for comfortable operation for teaching and learning or, alternatively, divided into smaller sections configured specifically for group collaboration.

The addition of two desktops Synergy from the specialist Top-Tec facilitates these areas of collaboration, providing full access to the room's audiovisual system and all associated screens.

To ensure everyone has access to the same high-quality training, the Telehealth room includes the system Sennheiser Mobile Connect, an innovative solution designed to improve the experience of hearing impaired people.

Thanks to it, Students and participants can access the audio system by simply scanning a QR code available in the room to download an app, from which you connect directly to the live audio stream, via your personal mobile device and to your hearing aids via Bluetooth.

Advanced Skill Areas

The project has also contemplated the creation of spaces for skills 2A and 2B, strategically located in the center of the recently renovated building.

These areas have a double door partition allowing for seamless room division to suit a variety of use cases. Besides, The flexibility of these spaces allows you to link all the technology located within each one.

Both spaces are equipped with 85” Sony screens and another Clevertouch interactive, also 85”. To this they add a front lectern fully integrated into each one, ceiling microphones Beyerdynamic and wall-mounted Aver cameras.

Audio is provided by QSC ceiling and wall mounted speakers, while the Sennheiser Mobile Connect system improves accessibility and inclusivity within each space.

Future of immersive learning

The incorporation of immersive technology Igloo Vision at London Metropolitan University is also a key element in this educational transformation, improving the student learning experience.

Through sophisticated technology projection mapping, Igloo Vision offers a 360º immersive environment that allows students to actively engage with a wide variety of content types, including photographs, hyper-realistic training videos and scenarios.

This advanced technology makes it easy simulations ranging from roadside emergency situations to hospital ward scans, effectively transporting students to realistic and dynamic environments, which significantly improves their understanding and participation which enriches their educational journey.

“As healthcare moves to a more digital landscape, It is important that our students have access to cutting-edge equipment and resources - says Julie-Ann MacLaren, Head of Nursing at London Metropolitan University. Establish a simulation skills center, with high quality AV, ensures that we can provide our students with the best in preparation for the changing digital world of nursing”.
